- The Amish are a religious and ethnic group, descended from German and Swiss immigrants predominantly German-speaking, living in 22 settlements in the U.S. (primarily in Ohio and Pennsylvania) and Canada (in Ontario). Men use black hats and women use white coping in their heads. For men the most important things are taking a bible and having a really big bear. They work all the sunlight day everyday and also the weekends making things that are necessary for them like building a house for a new member of the community that maybe have got married, they make that all together helping each other. They live in farms and they work profiting from their lands. They cultivate the land and they eat with the food that they get on it. Also they care their own cattle getting some products of the livestock like eggs, milk and so on. They try to follow the lifestyle of the bible having the same way of live of that age. They live in USA but they speak Pennsylvania German to communicate between them and using English to communicate with the rest of the world. They have really hard rules for their way of live based on their literal and smart interpretation of the New Testament and have to be carried out for everyone.
Hello Paula, I’m Maria Jose Carrascosa (1ºC) I’ve listened the song. Now I’m going to answer the exercise. The Amish are people with chin, they live in Lancaster and they wear black and white clothes, they get up at 4:30 a.m. They hate the new technologies and the luxury and so they work in the field, they plow, they milk the cows, they feed the chickens…Other of their jobs is to sell quilts the cheapest. With the cows’ milk, they make butter and with the grain, wich they harvest, they knead the bread. They live like Robinson Crusoe. They live by the Holy Bible’s rules, they can’t do bad actions and if somebody kicks them, they will put the other part of their face. All of them are crazy, they never break the rules.
With this video we can understand how is Amish paradise life. Then man told us with this song which are they customs and what they are use to do there. We can see how Amish paradise looks like and also realize it is too different from our neighborhoods. It is a green valley, full of cows, chickens, vegetations, birds... They are use to do natural works, as milking, gather grain, built by themselves.. everything without modern technics. It is also strange they are dressed with black clothes, and wearing hat. They say they don´t need electricity, phones or cars, they can survive with the things they have. The attitude of the protagonist seems to be very positive because he tries to be patient although he is attacked (with the boy, the tourists...), he prefers not to fight with anyone. Amish paradise is as a hippy place, where peace and rest are important for them, nothing disturb their relax. Anyway they work hard during the day, to can do all the things they need. To conclude, We can say with this video we realize that nowadays is also possible to live without all the new technologies, although they make our lives easier.

Amish woman are faithful to her love and they can have more of seven or eight baby’s, their married for her is beautiful because they can’t work out of house, they only buy in the market place, look after to their children and their home, they clean and they have ready the meals whenever their husband arrived to sweet home. Amish man are free in all, they work in their farm where grow what they want or can. After they worked, they will go to drink something liquor with some friend and at the night go back to the home to rest with their family. Really, Amish people have a harsh life which nobody can understand and less a modern person but they love that life so we should be agreeing with their decision.
To sum up, our life compared with the Amish life is very different but we’re happy with our style and we should accept us, I don’t know other thing than to tell.

I think that our society is every time more and more superficial. The important things are if you wear fashions clothes or if your mobile phone is the last in the commerce. Nobody respect the others. We spend lot of time in front of TV. Internet shows you places that you’ll never go and you meet people that you’ll never see (and you don’t speak with the person that it´s next you). People don´t enjoy every time in their lifes and many people have problems like: drugs, alcohol, stress… Everybody work, work and work for what? For buying innecessaries things.

With the cows’ milk, they make butter and with the grain, wich they harvest, they knead the bread. They live like Robinson Crusoe.
They live by the Holy Bible’s rules, they can’t do bad actions and if somebody kicks them, they will put the other part of their face.
All of them are crazy, they never break the rules.

The Amish are a group of very religious people. These people are all over the U.S.A. more specifically in Lancastel (Philadelphia). Their way of life is very different to ours but they go back. The Amish do not have any type of electronic device including: a mobile phone, a television, a radio, a computer. There are some families who have a telephone but far from the house and do not often use a lot. There are towns where these people live that are limited to electricity. The Amish do not have cars because they do not carry the carriages. Another of the many differences is their clothing. The men wear trousers and dark jacket, white shirt and a hat too dark. The women wear a dark skirt, apron and a white shirt and finally put a black cap. This group of people descended from Swiss roots and speak the German language but at school they are taught the English language. the Amish want to live so they do not want in the future evolution like their old lifestyle and easily without any type of technology but we do not understand. Their lives are quiet because they do not go looking for any kind of fighting. What they want is to have children and care for and raise a family and be happy.

ResponderSuprimirAmish people lives in our world but they want to believe than they are in XVIII century with a Christian and old life. They can live how they want but well… by religion they can’t live with some technology of nowadays for example mobile phone, cars, computers…neither they can permit than someone will do photography’s or pictures. In general, Amish people have a far life where they have their job and their world than they don’t change for nothing. Amish woman are faithful to her love and they can have more of seven or eight baby’s, their married for her is beautiful because they can’t work out of house, they only buy in the market place, look after to their children and their home, they clean and they have ready the meals whenever their husband arrived to sweet home. Amish man are free in all, they work in their farm where grow what they want or can. After they worked, they will go to drink something liquor with some friend and at the night go back to the home to rest with their family. Really, Amish people have a harsh life which nobody can understand and less a modern person but they love that life so we should be agreeing with their decision.
To sum up, our life compared with the Amish life is very different but we’re happy with our style and we should accept us, I don’t know other thing than to tell.

They believe in the afterlife and they have this life because they think that living this form the temptation to sin they do won’t have, it's like to reduce the possibility of sin, it is like that, they think like that and so they live like that.
They do not care what others might think they are well and that life seems to matter little to them, the other life for them is important.
In this paradise there aren’t policemen, traffic lights and rules.

I think that our society is every time more and more superficial. The important things are if you wear fashions clothes or if your mobile phone is the last in the commerce. Nobody respect the others. We spend lot of time in front of TV. Internet shows you places that you’ll never go and you meet people that you’ll never see (and you don’t speak with the person that it´s next you). People don´t enjoy every time in their lifes and many people have problems like: drugs, alcohol, stress… Everybody work, work and work for what? For buying innecessaries things.
In my opinion, it wouldn´t be bad that everybody clean out their system some time for valuing the really important things.

But this strange behaviour has a reason, buttons are connected to the Army, and they’re utterly opposed to violence and therefore to the Army. Another interesting thing about their physical aspect is that men (in general Amish tradition, it may change in subgroups) must be well shaved when they’re single men and when they get married must let their beard grow and keep it thick.
Amish people don’t pray in churches, they believe in private praying, every man in his own house. This comes from the New Testament and from the anabaptism belief which says that private praying at home is safer.
To finish I must say, cause i believe it’s important, that most of Amish people live in the United States of America and they have a large tradition.
