Rick the private detective woke up at seven o’clock when his alarm clock went off, and get up immediately. It was not an ordinary day.

He take out a cigarette from the pack of Marlboro next to the bed and turned on the radio. It was cold. There was ice on the inside of the windows of his rented flat.

Rick picked up the radio and go into the kitchen. He put the kettle on and took out a jar of instant coffee from the dirty green cupboard.

Rick sat down at the kitchen table and picked up the receiver of the dirty black telephone.

He asked the switchboard operator at CNN to put him through to Blondie Titterton. The familiar voice of Rick’s contact was sweet and sexy.

“Oh Rick , yes I’m afraid it’s true. Life will be different for all of us now. Rick, I’m so scared!”
“Don’t worry sweetheart.” Said Rick, put out his cigarette, “I’m gonna fix everything baby.” Blondie and Rick got on well.

Rick stood up and put on his jacket. Just before he turned off the radio he heard the end of the news broadcast.

Rick closed the door and went down the stairs. He tried to smile as he got into the taxi. It was going to be a long day.

“Don’t worry sweetheart.” Said Rick, putting out his cigarette. “I’m gonna fix everything baby.” Blondie and Rick got on very well .

Rick stood up and put on his jacket. Just before he turned off the radio he heard the end of the news broadcast.

Rick closed the door and walked down the stairs. He tried to smile as he got into the taxi. It was going to be a long day.
