Holy week

It´s coming! Yeah! What does it mean for you? People have different thoughts about our holy week, it may mean a period of the year to rest, go to the beach, visit family...For others it has a deep religious feeling and they enjoy watching "pasos", sharing activities with their "hermandades" and taking part in their respective "estación de penitencia". Also there are some people who mix this religious feeling with resting and making other several and different things like myself. Can you write 200 words about what it means for you or what you usually do?

  1. HOLY WEEK

The holy week is one of the best weeks of the year, there are persons that him others like more and less but in general almost all the persons at least see some confraternity. I go out of Nazarene on Sunday of branch in the "love" go of penitent on Monday and the holy Tuesday am in the habit of seeing confraternities and the rest of the week am in the habit of going away to the field or to the beach to resting with my friends. It is one very good week because apart from not having college you rest seeing the confraternities more nice, but I am never in the habit of seeing the dawn because I am not in sevilla but the times that I have seen her always me to been charmed with. In it forestalls the one that is in the habit of calling the attention is the "pertaining to La Macarena one" or the " hope of triana " and they retire on 2 p.m., 12 hours of penance it is very hard but if you like it you do it since you are doing a station of penance.

    1. Holy Week is most definitely a very sacred time of the year, for it is now that we will commemorate and remember the last week of Jesus' life on this earth. But, for me it hasn't a religious significance. I like over all Holy Week because it's a time to rest and not to have to get up early. I am not especially devout but I enjoy this time of year watching the "pasos" in the street.
I usually remain in Seville until the Holy Wednesday because my parents work. On Palm Sunday we move usually in my grandmother's house because she lives in the center of Seville, in the Conteros street. It is a street very close to the cathedral by where they pass through many "pasos". Living there has many advantages, but also disadvantages. It is very difficult to enter and to leave the house when there are "bullas". But when you're tired of walking a lot is an advantage to have the bed so close.
From Holy Thursday, and whenever the weather is good, we usually go to the beach. If the weather is bad, we usually stay at home, in Tomares. In this case I usually go to a cinema or invite my friends to play.

  2. Holy Week for me, it’s not special, I do not see much point in seeing large dolls moved by people who are suffering, I can not move anything inside me when I see those dolls, I do not find attractive or ugly, they are just puppets.
Holy Week for me have another different meaning to me, for memeans rest, or a whole week to study the test of the following week you may traveling too, I never go to the beah in this week, I do not know why, but whenever it reaches the Easter or stay in Seville, or we will travel outside of Spain, once I went to Paris and a cruise, for example.
I can also be well more time with my friends or my boyfriend, all the time that I couldn’t be with them during the week because of the studies I would recover between fair and this week, and also this week is perfect for my with the clothes, because I like a lot fix, or go half dressed, and is Palm Sunday, when you can fix a lot, and all the other days are usually well dressed.
In general, the meaning that should really be the Holy Week I do not see, however, I take the opportunity to do many things.

  4. HOLY WEEK
I am a Christian girl but sometimes I think that Easter is somewhat exaggerated. It is a period in which to reflect on your bad mood acts, things that we must change our lives and a time to relax. I think Easter is also the question of how you present your parents and they are a great influence on all aspects.
At Easter we find different types of people and situations.
There are people that takes all year to save when you get this holiday have plenty of money to go out every day, have a chair in the cathedral and go out for shrimp and beer. More directly there are people who only seeks to appear.
On the other hand there are people who are fans of this tradition, which take days and days preparing speeches, arrows and percentages of Nazarenes because they really passionate about.
I honestly every year I go to the beach or travel, but I'll try to be here on Thursday morning and leaving my two favorite sororities are Los Gitanos and La Esperanza de Triana.
This year I think I will not go to the beach because I think I'll have to help my parents in the business as this is in the center of Seville and there is great afluecia of daters in the same place and the same time .

  5. For me the Holy Week is mainly a Week of holidays because in theory one mustn't study although the preu has filled with exams the following week, but I usually go to beach or simply I go out by Sevilla but I don't go to see "pasos" because I don't like the Holy Week, I preffer the Feria de Abril because I like more this ambient, in my opinion is more animated and funny anyway I respect the Holy Week and the people that they like that week, the Holy Week is an event that is appreciate by tourists and because objectively is nice. The Sevillian people feel a lot this seven days particulary the persons that belong to a "Hermandad" for example St. Genoveva or El Cerro. Really for the people that don't like the Holy Week have to go out of Sevilla because this city became in a monothematic place where only say of Christs, Virgins or other Holy Week related stuff. The most spectacular day is Thursday late night or "madrugá" where the people go out to see his "pasos" all night long and have "churros" for breakfast but in my opinion the day that I like is Sunday or "Domingo de Ramos".

    Holly Week

I normaly in Holly Week I´m going to the beach. My feeling about the "hermandades" arent´t very big. Althoug, I belong to one. I like to see the any "pasos" but on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wensday because the Thursday I´m going to the beach with my friends or my family.
This Holly Week will be different because this year I have to study for the exams because this year I have the "selectividad". I think that will go only three days and the others days I´m stay in my house to study for the next exams. May be benefit for to see more "pasos" that the past year. I remember that the past year I saw only three because I haven´t got friends that come whith me because they was in the beach or in otre country.
I´m thinking about to make a trip in plane to Spain or to outside Spain but I think that realluI will go to the beach. I have much desire to desconect to the school for a week anda to relax the mind.
I think that the Holly Week is a time to religious and a time to think in the person that not are here.

  7. My Holy week
We all know that most of us are much too eager for the Holy Week to come for it is another annual break from our work. I always complain that I never have time to run all your errands and do all the things that I need .So, the next holly week I´m going to plan to make differents activities:At first of week, I ´m going to study morning and afternoon and will try to remain concentrate and I will devote all time. After the study, I´m going to meet to my friends and I will go out .. I enjoy watching "pasos" and how the people move to tears and fight to front row seats. Well worth walking slowly and feel the spring smell ,the peculiar street´s ambiance, eat "calentitos" with choccolate and remain out for hours to be tired. The weekend, I usually go to the beach with my friends and family and might as well to arrive there when the long beach are only for us .If the weather is good I will take my first bath of the year. In the afternoon there are differents options to choose (going to the party, watching procession, going to the cinema...) but I must hurry up because don’t I have enough time.

    Holy week

In holy week, I like watching “pasos”, but also going out with my friends or spending my time with my family and my boyfriend or simply resting. Most of the years, we usually go to our beach house in Mazagón. Although I like holy week, I don´t usually watch “pasos” all the time, only three or four days. When I was a little girl, we used to travel somewhere in the mountains, for example, Cazorla, Sierra Nevada, or even out of Andalusia, like Guadalajara, Palencia, Soria or Cuenca, because my father practises fly fishing for trout, and my mother enjoys travelling very much, but now that I am older, we usually agree what to do in holy week, and my parents usually consider my opinion. Last holy week, the weather was very bad, so we did almost nothing, we stayed at home and watched only one or two “pasos”, but two years ago, we stayed in Seville for the first two or three days of the week, and then, we went to the beach, but we also watched “pasos” in Huelva; it is very similar to our holy week, and we enjoyed much, but I think that our holy week in Seville is the best in Spain.

  11. my Holy Week

I'm not a complete fan of Holy Week but I like to see some "pasos" it's just that I also like me to go to the beach or do other things. because in a week there is time for everything. unfortunately say that in this Holy Week and also raining all. in my home I have a clear example of what can feel a person to see a "step" which is my brother, he lives totally different as I live. since usually get up at 8 in the morning to see steps and even at night and so every day. for these people this week is perhaps the most important of the year without doubt and the year it rained for passing situations has to be the worst week of the year. for people who live in a very deep well is a very large expense because most people go into brotherhoods and have to pay in "las hermandades" and made a few years the robes, hoods, capes.
but in the end each person can live Holy Week as you like and as you can. also influences as your family because if you're used to that every year you see all the "pasos" ends up becoming a routine.

  12. Holy Week is probably one of the most important and biggest celebrations in Spain. For me, Holy Week represents a perfect combination of traditions and holidays. Among the religious and cultural traditions which are most favoured in the city of Seville, there is no doubt that ‘Semana Santa’ occupies a privileged position. I like to devote the first half of the week to enjoy and live to the full something that I think should not be missed. I am referring here to the spirit and the passion of the people from Seville, who year after year turn the streets of the city into a superb celebration of faith, tradition and colour. I am a member of the San Esteban Brotherhood and all the year round I look forward to the coming of Holy Tuesday, the day when we go on procession along the crowded streets of the city. Over the second half of the week I usually go to the beach. Holy Week is always celebrated during springtime. At this time of the year the weather in Andalusia is warm enough for many people to enjoy sunbathing –and even bathing!- on the seaside. To finish, I would also like to dedicate a few lines to another Holy Week tradition which I always try to enjoy: gastronomy. During Holy Week it is possible to taste some excellent traditional food, such as cod in tomato sauce or the famous’torrijas’ (French toast).

the only day that I enjoy Easter is the Sunday that I spend with friends watching steps.
I also love eating sweets since Easter only eaten this week and then during the year you remember them, such as toast, bones of saints, honey and sugar fritters ...
my mother makes French toast with cinnamon and sugar milk and she makes friends with wine.
Friday is the holy pains my grandmother and she is a very important day for her since she really believes in God and loves the holy semama.

  14. Holy week is a week where there isn’t school. In this week, many “pasos” go out to the streets to show Cristo’s died and resurrection. There are many people in the streets, but some person don’t like this week and they spend this week for relax and rest. I love Sevilla and its traditions, so I like its holy week, and I go to see it. I and my brother go on penitence on Tuesday.
The holy week of Sevilla is the best in the world, a lot of tourists come here to see it and our holy week can’t compare to other holy week. The people of Sevilla go out, the bars are packet and the environment is incredible. Sevilla makes a lot of money in holy week and the bars and hotels are always satisfied. It is a pride for Sevilla to have this holy week, the best “pasos”, and the best images.

  15. My Holy week:
Not everyone likes the Holy Week, there are some that do and some do not but for most it is a week full of excitement, emotion, feelings especially for those coming out of Nazarenes. Others, however, go to the beach, or travel to the field are those who are not devotees of Holy Week and prefer to rest. It is true that every year there are more foreigners coming to Seville to see the steps and so many people on the street weighing very heavily, for example parents taking their children to see the steps that could prohibit carts. At Easter I go with my friends, study in the mornings and some afternoons I go there to see the steps, but this year the weather has become very difficult with so much rain and I just left but we'll see if all goes well the madrugá . One of the most anticipated day for the locals is the madrugá which is when most glorious steps out with more feelings. Over the weekend I always go to the beach with my parents, my uncles and my grandparents if the weather is good, if not we go to the countryside to go hiking.

I love Holy Week in Seville. It is without doubt the best Holy Week around the world. The Madrugá Seville is the night "sevillana". Are carvings of a value (sentimental and economic) incalculable.

I'll tell you what I did this Holy week.

On Sunday of morning it rained. "La Paz" could not leave. A shame, because it is a classic of our Holy Week, my little brother went there and cried a lot. The Borriquita came with "El Amor", and "La Estrella", "La Amargura" also came out. I saw them all night, highlight "La Estrella" on the bridge of Triana.

On Monday and Tuesday it rained, and San Gonzalo (the brotherhood of Paula) got wet enough (a pity).

On Wednesday came all. He had wanted to Holly Week and from the morning I went outside. I first saw San Bernardo in his neighborhood, after the departure of Baratillo (very nice). I stopped and turned at night out. I saw "San Bernardo" by the bridge of firefighters, and the entrance of Baratillo. I was not seeing "Los Panaderos", which I love.

On Thursday it rained and comes Madrugá. I go on "El Calvario". It was a season of penance hard, but when finished, but was tired and had 24 hours without sleep, I went to see the "Esperanza de Triana". Then I saw "Los Gitanos" by the cuest of Rosario. Finally, I walked to the Macarena and saw the entrance. Spectacular, just as he entered the Virgin began to rain. Very nice.

I got home at three, died. I took a "nap" that lasted 20 hours. I got up the next day morning. When I view my watch and saw that he had spent one day I could not believe.

    That ended my Holy Week.

holy week is a very special week in the year, there is only one and therefore you have to enjoy, being with family and friends. Visiting the churches, confraternities, leaving penitent .... In addition it is also a week to rest, relax a week to disconnect from the busy life we lead. This year in particular has rained a lot and many people have been lifted out of Nazarenes, like last year, but many have used to spend a few days in the sun on the beach where to best time.
This year I have not gotten out of Nazareth because it was raining on Tuesday, nor can perform penitential season last year, I hope to have better luck next year. Also on Palm Sunday is the best day for me of holy week, this year it rained so many people have not gone and everything was waterlogged. Besides the rain not only harms the brothers, but all business people and inns that make much money at this time.
In conclusion, to me holy week is very special and not the time to visit other cities, but stay in yours enjoy big week in seville

For my family, Holy week has a religious meaning and is also a short break after winter. Holy week comes in the spring, the days are longer, the streets fill with people, Seville orange smell.
The first day I'm going to the beach with my friends, we take the sun and rest. On Holy Wednesday we return to Seville to see the “Cofradías”. When I was little, I went with my parents in the stands. There I had fun with other children, but now I prefer to go through the streets looking for the best place to see pass the Christ or the Virgin.
On Holy Thursday, “la madrugá”, I'm all night on the street. I like seeing the Virgin Macarena, Jesús del Gran Poder, The Silence. It is very moving to see how they pass through the streets of Seville and how people cry, shout, clap.
I have seen the Holy Week in Zamora. It's very different. There, they live Holy week with meditation, reflection, gravity, etc.. Some people think that we do not live Holy Week correctly, it is a week of fun. I do not think so because it is a different culture, tradition. To me, the most important is the education of people and respect for others, for example is not correct that when the Virgin is happening, people make noise, they should be silent and everyone in it can reflect what make more timely, as the religious sentiment, art ... It is true that some people take advantage of these occasions for vandalism, but I think this happens anywhere in Spain and not only in Seville.
Seville is very important for Holy Week because it is a tourist attraction and many people come from elsewhere and economically benefits the city, but I advise tourists to come at another time and let the Holy Week for those who enjoy these days. One drawback is the crowd of people on the streets, the center of Seville is very large, but it is too small and cramped because we do not we can move with ease, to get from one place to another, sometimes it is impossible .
I am very proud of my Holy week, of all the fraternities because they all have something special, and the environment, the air we breathe is also special.

  19. Holy week for many means more than the processions in the streets.
Planning my route may be one of the most important parts of the day. What seems like a 10 minute walk can become 45 minutes so give yourself plenty of time to get from place to place.
The inputs and outputs can be some of the most crowded parts of a procession’s route through the city, and as mentioned above I may need to get to some places an hour ahead of time to get a good spot. I’ll need a map as well as a daily schedule of the processions, which list approximate times when I can see them at a particular point.
Another Thing very important for me is to eat torrijas and sandwich, to drink wine and beer in some bar you swore you'd never go to until you were dying of hunger.
It's valuing the comfort of a good pair of shoes you put on 10 hours ago.
Beside seeing processions to my also I like going out with my friends, to do sports, rest and sleep a lot.
It is one week where not only it is important to see images also to have time free for other interests.

  20. Easter came and, for many it is a rest period, and others of a deep religious feelings ...
for me is a mixture of the two because I like to see steps the early days of this week as I like and I am a believer but I am not in any sorority sister so bored I also go every day of the week as I said to the early days of the week typically stay with my friends to walk to enjoy the atmosphere of my city and most importantly to see these steps as typical of Seville and so beautiful, but mid-week some days I'm going to the beach or my parents or my friends every year and depends on good weather, because for example this year it rained and I could not go to the beach. If I can not go to the beach I choose to go see my family living in Badajoz and I go with my parents and there is also so much fun since I have many friends there and we have many parties.
this week does not help me much to rest because I'm always on the move with my friends, but good because there will be plenty of time to rest other times of year, now just have to enjoy.

  21. The Holy Week can be seen in many different ways. So much like with feeling religious as on the occasion of vacations. Here in Seville a very big feeling is had about this week. I am from Cordova and one notices that this feeling is obvious in the environment but is not so deep as in Seville, because of it of that they say that the holy Sevillian week is the nicest of all. I am a person that into my family they have not inculcated very much theirs this feeling but if it is true that I like to be going to see steps but also I me like to take some days to go to the beach or to see some friend or friend who was doing time that it did not see, for it I am in the habit of being useful these dates. I think that that person who lives through the feeling of the Holy Week must be something precious, because it is an entire week dedicated to something that for you is great. I see as negative it is the multitude of people who exists in the street, for my it is oppressive to be without being able to move in a persons' stopper.

  22. Holy Week, although it is the most important event in the religious calendar, more so even than Chritmast, is a special period of time for me. First, because there is no class in the school; second, because I am a fans of the “procesiones” in holy week and finally, because I am going to the beach for two or three days.
What do I usually do in Holy Week?. Several things.
On the one hand, I got up later every day. In that week, I sleep three or four hours more each day. After breakfast, I usually study a while if I have failed any subject of the course and the rest of the day I usually go out with my friends to see processions.
On the other hand, I cannot fail to realise the religious significance of Holy week although lately it is losing this meaning. To me, personally, although I am not very religious it is a period of time in which I think a little more in God.
To sum up, Holy Week is a period of time in which I do several things: to study, the most important thing for my father; rest, see processions, going to the beach and have fun.

  23. Spain is especially renowned for its Holy Week traditions or Semana Santa. Holy Week, the last week of Lent sees its most glamorous celebrations in the region of Andalucia. This is a religious holiday.
A common feature in Spain is the almost general usage of the nazareno or penitential robe for some of the participants in the processions. This garment consists in a tunic and capirote used to conceal the face of the wearer- The exact colors and forms of these robes depend on the particular procession. These nazarenos walk the city streets barefoot. In some areas, sections of the participants wear dress freely inspired by the uniforms of the Roman Legion. The people who carry the weight of the floats are called "costaleros" and are expected the carry them with solemnity and grace.

On my opinion, we must promote it due to many tourist feel attract by this traditional and typical event, in addition we are in crisis time.
Personally, for me, Holy week is a period very important because I am believer and “pasos”, penitent, music… moved meand is a time for reflecting about me and if I am doing what Good wants that I do. But I like go to the beach too, so on Thursday I leave from Seville and I go to Matalascañas for studying near from the shore with my dog or my mother.

I like watching pasos so I go some days to the city centre to a house in "El Salvador" and I have a good time there. Living in Sevilla is an advantage in this times because has the most beautiful Holy Week over the world.

But doing that is not the only thing I do, the rest of those days I usually go to the country side with my cousins and my grandfathers or maybe to the beach with my friends. It is a week where people can do wathever they want, you just need to have a good time of relaxing.

For me, hloy week is special because it transforms the city. Also, for those who believe in God is the most special week of the year because it is when the God dying and resurrected. Personally I am usually in Seville during holy week all to enjoy this week as short and special. Besides enjoying the steps, also ground to meet friends I have not seen for a long time with many people. But I go on the weekend to the beach. I travel every year to my apartment marbella with my friends and I take to relax, go to the beach and hanging out with my friends. the only thing I do not like going to the beach at hloy week is that it still does not make enough heat to bathe and also tends to get windy. hloy week is special to me but also travel usually go to rest at least 3 days. I hope may rest and I will have a good time at holy week

  30. The holy week is a very special moment of the años because we remember the sacrifice that Jesus did to save the human beings and his last days in the Earth. The better of the holy week is that you go out to the street and can enjoy very nice moments that the Catholics take waiting all the year round, it is not necessary to raise early and we are useful the week to rest and to recover forces because already it stays less for "Fair" I dress of Nazarene for Mairena del Alcor's brotherhood that is called Veracruz, this year due to the rain we could not have gone out but ojala the year that comes could see to this crucifix for Mairena's streets. Some persons who prefer resting mas go away to the beach to enjoying of a few days of relax.

  31. For me holly week is the one of the best week of the year, I prefer holly week than “feria”, I love seeing the “pasos” and smelling the incense of the streets. For me is really interesting the holly week and see how many people do penitence, how the “costaleros” work out during all the year to get their brotherhood out.I love the holly week music and how the “pasos” move at the same time of the music,is very beautiful .When I was more younger I used to get out in the “borriquita” but now I don’t belong to any brotherhood , because I prefer no getting out so I could see the rest of the brotherhood. But is really nice to do penitence with your brotherhood and see how the little boys ask you for wax to get their own wax ball.

Holy week is a date very happy because I have holiday so I don´t have to the class. However this holidays aren´t as another kind of holidays for me. In this week I usually don´t to visit family and I don´t go to the beach, I have a deep religious feeling and taking part in two “estaciones de penitencia” with my favourite hermandades.
It happens on the Wednesday afternoon and on Friday morning. On the Wednesday afternoon,t I taking part with my Hermandad in Santiponce, the place I´m living. This “ estacion de penitencia” begins about at eight p.m. and finishs about two a.m. I wear the traditional clothes with Hermandad colours. They are white and purple. My another “ estacion de penitencia” happens in Triana a quarter of Seville. In this occasion, I wear green and beige clothes with respective while gloves and slocks and black shoes. This estacion de penitencia is very hard so it stars at quarter past two a.m. and finishs about half past two p.m. The remaining days I usually go to Seville to watch pasos.
Holy week is a special date for me so is a date which I can do a what really like.

  33. I think holy week is a very important religious event for me, because I’m catholic. It’s a week to remember Jesus’ life. But the most important is that it’s a good occasion to think about what he has taught us.

Our traditional holy week in Seville is very famous in Spain. There are several people in the city, many of them are visitors.

In holy week a lot of processions are organized by “hermandades” or brotherhoods, groups of catholic people who are member of a church. There are about sixty brotherhoods in Seville. I am member of the brotherhood of my church.

The most important part of the procession is the “paso”, a large platform that is carried by people. This isn’t an easy task because of “pasos” weigh very much. On top of the platform are sculptures of Christ or the Virgin. The sculptures represent scenes of the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus. Each procession is followed by “nazarenos”, brothers of the respective church, who wear hoods.

The procession most famous on Palm Sunday is “la borriquita”. The “paso” represent scenes of the entrance of Jesus in Jesuralem. When I was child this was the ”paso” that I like the most.

The most special days of holy week for me are Thursday and Friday. Those days I can to see the most famous processions in Seville.

Them love Holly Week and they went out more days than me!! They spent two night asslep!!! well, they sleep two hours so so hahaha. Holly Week is so beautiful and it transmitted passion and love for God and the Virgen, people cry, people love, people pray and give thanks for thing good and bad, if you going out and look people face, you can see all it. 38. For me, holly week is a week most of the year, except that I have a vacation to relax, go to the beach, the countryside, to take me a few drinks with friends, and escape from the routine of every day.
There are things about Easter that I do not like, for example, the city center, it is impossible to stroll through the center, is overrun with people as if it were a colony of ants, all dressed in suits, obeying the flow constant tide of families looking for ways to quickly get to see certain step.
The truth is that I hate holly week at the most fervent and religious sense, but I like the artistic level, and the mysticism surrounding the number of ''pasos'', as ''the silence''.
but in reality, to which I devote more time and what I do at holly week is to escape, go to chipiona with my friends, or somewhere out of town, to breathe fresh air, out for a while, and get ready for the third quarter whic is always the hardest.
because the truth is that the air we breathe in Holy Week in Seville does not suit my personality, and I not really enjoy it, so I usually go by there ... running away from the crowds.

People prepare the religious celebrations for months: the bands rehearse the music they play during the processions, the "nazarenos" prepare their costumes, etc. When finally the Holy Week arrives thousands of nazarenos walk through the narrow streets of the old town carrying big candles. Sometimes you can hear a strange song from a balcony called saeta. The streets are crowded by thousands of persons, many of them tourists from countries all over the world. Several of my cousins take part in the processions. I love to go to the center with my friends or my family in order to watch the famous pasos carried by stong men called "costaleros". My wish is to participate myself next year, so I'll have to convince my parents to pay the membership in a "hermandad".

My holy week is one of the better weeks in the year, the palm sunday I usually go out to eat with my family and after, all my cousins leave with their friends and me with my friends. we go to see all the brotherhoods as we can but, we always see 5 or 4 because we don´t have time to see more. Monday and tuesday I go to the center of sevilla to see more brotherhoods and Holy Wednesday I do the season of penance with the rest of my brothers among which are my little brother and my father, we go in the 4th tranche of Christ and when we enter in the church, we wait inside just The Christ of Mercy and when it is in the church we go to my uncle´s house in Adriano street and there we see enter Virgin of Charity. The rest days I usually study for the exams in the next week less the weekend when I usually go to the beach. I love this week...
The problem of this week in Sevilla is the climate we have around this dates, the last 3 or 4 years it was raining for all the holy week and the problem is that all the people in seville have all the year waiting to see the differents brotherhoods and when it is raining they don´t leave.

  42. For me the holy week is, above all, a week that we don't have school. A time where I don't have to get up early and I can go out with my friends late into the nigth. I'm not like my brother who is very "capillita" but I do like the atmosphere of the street and I like meet friends at the center of Seville. I like to see a "procession" but I can not stay so long standing waiting, watching "Nazarenos" passing one after another in a row, as people do for hours. I'd rather have a beer in a bar and go see "los pasos" when they pass by near ours. I also like that is a week where you can return home late at night because everyone is on the street and my mother does not care. Anyway we have always exams after this week and always I have to study. The truth is that, of all the holidays we have in Spain, this is my least favorite because it's the shorter one. Well, the Feria is also short but is much more fun.

I go in the brotherhood of peace by tradition since childhood and because I like to see people. I believe in God but not it inspires me passion Holy week. I leave the domingo ramos, and it is the only day that I go to downtown in the Holy week. Annually on Thursday I am going to the beach, zahara de los Atunes. We have there an apartment on first line of beach and this very well, a private urbanization with swimming pool, Park, garage, track of padel, soccer etc. But as almost never usually accompany the time since I am mainly going to study, also are dates of final exams for the 2 evaluation. Back on Sunday morning and for deeper me a little then always go with my brother playing a football match in the track of Bami. And that is what I do in the Holy week since childhood.

Every ``Viernes de Dolores´´ let's eat at my grandmother's house that is your holy and my aunt, and we like to celebrate with family. From ``Sabado Santo´´ until the ``Jueves Santo´´ we will see steps with our friends or our family because my cousins come to Seville from Alicante. These days I like to watch processions as `` The Baratillo'' leaving the ``Miercoles Santo´´.
``La madrugá´´ I see with my father and my brothers, when we finished seeing all the guilds are going to buy hotcakes for breakfast at home where my mother and my little sister sleeping ahead. When we finished breakfast we all went to bed.
When we're all awake we pack to go to spend the weekend at our house in Sanlucar de Barrameda. And we spent the weekend with my family on the beach.
When Sunday comes we are all tired, but we do not want to Seville because on Monday we have to go to school and we do not like, but my little sister likes it because she draws, plays and many things like this.

  45. Well, first I would say it's a celebration I personally do not like anything, this week I usually go to the beach or to the people of my parents who never do throughout the year by the high school or because my parents have to work. My friends, some of them are devotees so just spend time with them and they do not want to miss a single "step" and want to be everywhere at the same time. I also take this opportunity to be with my girlfriend and all my other friends who think like me about this event and do not want to see anything, so, besides visiting some of my relatives who live in northern Spain, I go with my friends for a drink or go to the beach or stay at home watching a movie with my parents, my girlfriend or myself. There really are times when you'll see a "step" that I like, I like almost none, but for example "The Christ of the Gypsies" is the only thing I like and for me the most beautiful, in final I do almost everything in this week without taking any this week so beloved holy people.

The people of Sevilla go out, the bars are packet and the environment is incredible. Sevilla makes a lot of money in holy week and the bars and hotels are always satisfied. 48. Easter is a special week that only happens once a year, but as ordinary people think, it is only a week but during the rest of the year is Easter, although in other ways and is the life of the brothers the following Holy Week for the rest of the year, such as radio and television that one day a week now speak of the brother, the artisans of each field, such as florists, sculptors, goldsmiths ... That in addition to this special week, also take steps for the rest of the year or no cult images of each guild, and always will need brothers leaving acolytes in each of these cases with his pole, Grail, censer or shuttle. For example, I am one of these, one acolyte and 4 years of experience and I leave in 2 guilds (Calvary and Montserrat) as brother and others as a favor to a brother or sisterhood itself. To me Easter is all year, since from each other think of many things around, ending Easter and there worship, May crosses, a brotherhood of glory, retreats end of my fraternities course, children Belarus, beginning of course in the fellowship, worship to another holder, mounting in all religious shrines, possible travel of the brotherhoods and a myriad of things that would take a whole book to explain them, and not just a week. And do not forget the ride, which are integrated horns and drums bands that were created for Holy Week. Life is a brother and big company in our city of Seville, where the traditional is still in style despite having V over centuries and have suffered with the republics and civil war. But do not take revenge or anything, because if this is so, is because there is someone who is based and is in Jesus, who said "love one another and if they are enemies. Although clearly not all brothers are Catholic or believe in God.

  50. Holy Week in Seville is one of the most important traditions of our city. Holy Week in Seville is recognized by the various "hermandad" are many different stories.
For me this week is one of the largest in the city. Why teach the city at its best beauty. Teaches the spring of the city when the city looks better.
This week begins with Palm Sunday where we gather all the family in the park to see the peace that is a tradition in my family. Then we will eat together and when we finished we all go to see "paso". We see "paso" during the days and the family that comes in them.
Holy Tuesday when it is a very important day in my family. Because most of us are of the same "hermandad" "El Dulce Nombre”.
Here we go smaller cousins and older. We make a journey of seven hours to eight. During this period we do various penances some barefoot or with socks. Also do "voto de silencio" which is a quiet period where we're going all the way.

My two favorite moments of the Holy Week are the Palm Sunday seeing the borriquita to go out of the Salvador and doing later the station of penance with my Christ of the Love and my another moment is seeing " the madrugá ", seeing to go out for the Lady of Seville, The Pertaining to La Macarena one, of his precious Basilica and happening for the Arch of the Victory, seeing to it Great Be able to enter the Chapel of The St Lawrence, to the Gypsies entering Bell. This week is the one that more I sit, all the feelings are joined. Last year I was the manager of writing and reading the "pregón" of Holy Week in my college.

The Holy Week in andalucia is the celebration of the passion, death and Christ's resurrection across the processions that realize the confraternities to the Cathedral of the city during the period understood between the Palm Sunday and the Easter Sunday. Throughout these days they realize a tour for the streets 60 fraternity, and 10 more do it in 2 previous days, the Friday of Dolores. For my holy week it is a feast in the one that feels the life of jesus and as sufrio us to save to us. It is something very nice to see the step to move to the compass of bugles. Trumpets and drums. These bands that touch with the major possible feeling. 54. The Holy Week, for the truth which is a week that according to the year I want to be in Seville, or go to the beach or somewhere else with friends ...
And I do not like the confraternities, although when I was 10 years went out of costalero in the procession of my school ... But it was because I liked it, feel the weight of the step in my neck, felt there if the season of penance. But over time I stopped believing in God by taking philosophical or scientific beliefs than religious, time is the doctor of all penalties and we are beings that evolve. I respect the brother who likes Easter, but I hate it blocked many streets of my city, and has to give two hundred laps when I do not like the steps, but I have to endure ... To take revenge after complaining when young kids make noise at night or in areas that we group the end of the day are not enabled because they deceive us and then we hechan, but that is up to the top.
At least that week breathe good atmosphere in the streets, the smell of incense, and people dressed up to the handles ... Seville has arguably the best Easter and fair in Spain!

I normaly in Holly Week I´m going to the beach. My feeling about the "hermandades" arent´t very big. The holy week in sevilla is one very special week, the majority of the persons wait during the whole year to see to go out to his images in a combination between faith and art.
Small was almost every day to Easter with my family but each time I already will less because'm me lazy and I prefer the beach who see steps, even though my parents are still going because they like much.
Holy week is a week very important from cristian people because is the week when cristo dead.
In conclusion I like it but I prefer go to the beach and see the holy week in other cities.

  56. It is a delicate issue, as all such as handle religious issues. Anyway, I'm disappointed ... and I think (no offense to anyone) that there is some hypocrisy on these dates. In my opinion and valuing what they have seen for several years and in Seville, is that you have no respect for the holy week and I think on the other hand are valued more other aspects that remain the true meaning of it. Although I would like to discuss many things and I do not want wreath, which has made me jump the spark that lit the flame is the subject of the rain and the steps. I do not understand why most people in Seville with which I have spoken, give more importance to gold, clothes, color, etc. of the images than any other thing, I posed the hypothetical situation of perfect protection against rain and the resounding answer I hear is not always pretty and thus could not be what it should look ... show off? ... from this point of view I understand that Easter has become an exhibition tour where acts of penance are only made with sun and good weather ... and instead of going out with the protected image and show the life of Christ, it is preferable to stay sheltered and calm. It gives more weight to the obvious economic value of the images that the true sense of Holy Week. The image also deteriorates during the day, the sun, wind, pollution, cameras ...
