Ryan Schaffer watched the sun rise over the mountains of northern Portugal from the terrace of a refurbished medieval monastery. He sipped his espresso, took his time getting ready, then headed down to join his workmates for their regular morning meeting.

chatted for a while before heading to various corners of the 15th century
building with their laptops. It’s all in a day’s work for employees of San
Francisco-based Expensify, a start-up specialising in the less-than-glamorous
world of expense report management.
Every year
the six-year-old company offers its approximately 50 employees the opportunity
to be flown to a different country to travel and work for a month. Destinations
have included Thailand, Vietnam, Croatia, India and, this year, Portugal.
“We spent a week in Lisbon,
Porto, [in a] monastery called Pousada de Amares, an hour from Braga and
Lagos,” explained Schaffer, the 27-year-old director of marketing and strategy
at Expensify. The trip took people around much of Portugal.There was, he said, generally no fixed place to work, with 35 employees scattered across various Airbnb lodgings, some with their partners and families. The trip also included nightly informal meals with colleagues and a weekly company dinner.
“People are sceptical when we say we work hard during our offshore month, but truly we work more that month than we do when we're back in the States,” Schaffer said.

It would delight me that the preu was leading to working to me on the outside because I believe that it would be the best experience for me and that I would learn a lot, not only professionally but also personally. On the one hand the advantage of going away to working abroad would be that I would amuse myself very much. I would learn of the way of working that they have there and it would serve me professionally. On the other hand the disadvantages of being going to work on the outside for one month are that it would miss my house because there it would not have my family and friends and another disadvantage would be that in the place where it is going to work for one month it would have to clean the house and do the food. Finally I believe that it would be a good experience to be going to work for one month abroad because it would teach me things that here he would not learn and would open the mind myself.

It supposes changes in many things and the simple fact of getting used to a new life far away from your family. It is a country which is similar to Spain, the weather is similar too. It is true that I will have to improve my English and try to learn Italian. Americans do not resemble the Spanish because they are cold, but if they had some spanish womens they will change. American life is pretty busy but when one is working adapts quickly and could reach through an American most in the State. Although the distances there are large enough to have my car since there the young can lead from 16 years.

It is not the same travel for pleasure and for fun to travel to a place where the reason for being there is to perform a particular job, taking into account that the place to which I would like to travel could be Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, there is a hotel called "A Quinta da Auga" which is in the outsides of city, before was a convent of pilgrims and that have been restored and converted in a charming hotel.

I don’t know Santiago de Compostela but it is a city that attracts me a lot, I like to know it by buildings so beautiful having especially the Cathedral and its cobblestone streets, narrow and damp and especially the so cheerful atmosphere in the city with very different people, tourists, pilgrims, college students and many taverns where the environment according to me count is very nice.
That way during the day you can work in a place with charm, in which when you rest enjoying just looking through the windows and in the afternoon or at night relax in a city as beautiful as Santiago.
I love to travel! I think the preu should offer the possibility to travel together one month anywhere in the world to finish second, and last experience all together. and enjoy beautiful views and unique moments as a grand farewell and as a reward for work throughout the year and visit the monuments of the cities where we travel and learn culture of other countries. I prefer to travel in summer to a tropical island with a beach paradise where many monuments to discover had not had many people, and that the parties were on the beaches. The truth that also would be fun to travel to a place like the beach croatia mixing, heat, and a great culture. According to the season you travel should choose a place or another since the weather is to enjoy to the fullest. There are countries that are not so well known that Asians are very nice and interesting as their cultures and monuments are totally different from ours. In winter is fun to travel to places where there is snow to ski and enjoy this temperature.

ResponderEliminarBeing taken for travel and work for a month is a good idea when I finish my course in the Preu so as for all my classmates because it can give us a better preparation for our future. Almost countries have grants which offer studies to their students in other countries, like USA, France and England.
I would like to travel to Italy because I think is a beautiful country, very similar to Spain and easy to go there. I don’t have any favourite city to visit because I don’t know any of it, but I would like to go to Roma, Naples, Milan… I think the language is very easy to study for Spanish people and only in a month it would be possible to learn it.
However, to get it I would have to get a job which was in relationship with the public in order to try practice and speak fluently.
For this I would try to work in a café where I met any type of people who could help me to improve my accent. Although it was a bit complicated, I would try to work hard during that month.
First of all I do not think the preu take a trip a month with all students because everything would go wrong. Students at preu not we would behave well in this type of activity if not with certain rules and regulations.

In United States I can work there easier than in Spain. There all things are more connected, you can have things quicker and it does that your work can be less stressed.

This place seems awesome, I met him in a footo in which he left a house in the middle of a turquoise sea , which abia a terrace with hammocks and a pool of fresh water in the middle of all the salty seawater. I thought it was a place of dreams, in which poderte relax in a hammock with your computer work while sipping a cold drink and listen to the sea in your arrededor . Also if you agobias for the work you can take a relaxing dip in your pool while contemplating the expanse of ocean that surrounds you. Might take some time to unwind from the stress of society and certainly quieter and would work more effectively than in your city . For me it would be a dream to spend in this place a month with all its quiet all day and having that feeling of relaxation that transmits there.
ResponderEliminarTo be sincere I would like to work for at least of a month in one of the most cities in Europe in my opinion, I am talking about Amsterdam. I visit this cute city the last summer and my experience was unforgettable. Even is not the biggest city, I swear there are a lot of things that you can do , for example renting a bike to explore the streets or eat in one of the hundreds of bakeries of the city. Almost the homes tends to be small flats, so if you want to have a calm moment to study is perfect. Personally I recommend this place for a college trip.

I think that a remote hotel housed in a castle, placed in a site far away from noise could be very good option. In such places one can work enjoying the quiet, isolated in a relaxed and suitable ambient to be concentrated on the work. It could be really good for having maximum efficiency on the results of the work.

Alternating work and leisure activities at a site of these features can increase the productivity of people. Both in Spain and elsewhere in Europe there are places with these characteristics that could be used to make this kind of experiences.
It would be atracttive to study and work for a month in a quiet place but at the same time interesting. It might be well to travel for example the Loire Valley (France) and stay at one of the castles there on the banks of the French River. I've never been but an aunt who has told me it is a beautiful and very quiet. It is recognized by UNESCO as one of the most beautiful places on earth.

But these excursions only would do in the weekend, as the rest of the time it would take advantage to study and work, since we would be alone with our teachers but would be very motivated.

The climate in Germany is quite different at the time of Sevilla and would be nice for a change of climate although the de sevilla is pretty good.
The Germans Spaniards do not speak because they are cold people, but everywhere there are nice people and Seville. I would live in an apartment downtown that are comfortable enough to go from one side to another, or even outside it can become a bit larger than the houses in the center. German life is pretty busy, but when you're working quickly adapts and could eventually adapt well to this country.

I know it is too far and obviously extremely expensive, but it is the dream of my life. La Preu could organize these travels in winter, because while, we are in winter, in Australia it is summer. I love summer, I prefer it than winter.
I could work as a waitress at the beach or helping in a hotel or at a restaurant. I think I would learn the idiom perfectly and I would become more mature and independent, because being alone without your parents during a month is difficult and you have to learn to do everything by your own way, which I find very difficult because I need my parents’ help lots of times during the day (cooking, washing my clothes…).
I would also learn the importance of money, because the money that I would have is the one that I gained working, and that money is only mine.
Personally, I'd like to make a trip of prom at the end of second high school. I think it will serve all students as motivation when we are studying. It will also serve as a reward for everything we have studied during the two courses, first and second high school.

It depend on if I can visit the city or if I just go for working, but If I could go to a place for working and also can visit the city, I would go to Thailand because, it is a place that it is not really crowded because people don´t know how beautiful it is. I would choose a place that have a relaxing beach because, if I have to work, the only thing I want to do during my free time is to relax and chill. Other city that I would chose is New York or California, because America is one of the biggest commercial places, and you can find everything you want to do there, also because I like America. I am going to speak about the best travel to enjoy and study with the Preu.
On the one hand, I would go to I would go to southern Italy because the food is very similar to ours, almost all the Spaniards we like the pizza, salad, macaroni or spaghetti ... so would have no problem eating.
On the other hand, climate and temperature are very similar to that of Andalucía, we can stay and enjoy the beach, swim, and evening fun in the clubs.
Also, we can learn to speak Italian and English, because in southern Italy English is spoken.
Our plan would be the next: Rise up early to study and exploit the morning. Then we would go to the beach to relax and enjoy. At lunchtime, we would go to a pizzeria. In the afternoon studying for hours to go to nightclubs, but not for long, because the next day you have to study ...
So we would be one month. Also we would go to museums and cultural centers to learn the culture of the country.
It would be an unforgettable experience, a little vacation yet, full of work and study.
If I had to go a month away from Spain I would go to Germany or the United States. In Germany I would go because I love their culture and has always been a place where I liked to go. Besides I have been lucky enough to go once to Germany in this case to Berlin, the capital. It is a beautiful city with lots of history; it is easy to envision the Second World War and separation of Germany with that wall as emblem. It would be a place where I could readily adapt and would not mind working. The United States would like to go because I like their culture and illusion has always made me make a great trip there. Browse the east coast from Miami to Boston, through cities like Chicago or Utah to reach the west coast and see Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles ... It would be nice to live and work there, especially in Boston or Chicago are where my teams are favorite NBA, although not amiss Seattle Supersonics although have not yet returned.

All of them have a very strict discipline in the work, so there I think that we could be more effective in our job. If we go to another funniest place like The Caribbean, for example, we could be more interested in discovering the place and not in the objective, the job. With this I don´t mean that Germany is an ugly country (I like so much Munich), so I say that because the job atmosphere would be better there than other more attractive place.

If you give me the opportunity to choose I´d rather to go to this places: I have thought two destinations, the first one is Berlin, which is the capital of germany. I have chosen this city because I think that berlin has many important and historical landmarks, for example, Brandenburg Gate or The Berlin Wall. Other reason is that nowdays Germany is a country which is a country in growth so we can learn many things of them.

First I think that it would be very difficult to go from my house to another place, already be in Spain or not, since I am a person very stuck to everything what surrounds me, friends, family.. He would Travel to some place where it was not done by night to the midday or in the early afternoon, I think that he would not support it.. If I had to go away to some place I think that it would be to France, it is a language that is given me good and I would like to continue learning it. Also I know there some persons and think that it would be easier for me to separate of my house. Secondly I do not believe that in any country nowadays they give you a work that rents you to go away of house since they are many expenses to be kept out of house, renting, eating, transport..

However, this wouldn´t be an economical trip. The level of life in this country is higher than Spain. So, the other option could be Malta, it is cheaper than the ther one and oviously, it is closer. The oficial language is English too so we could improve our English too. It also has an interesting culture and history. Malta has a lot of resindences for young people and for the teachers and a lor of learnings programs which include city tours and free access to many monuments. The best month to go is summer because the weather is so good and we would have a good time. In spite of going on winter the weather is cold due to the influence of sea.
This would be an insterenting, economical, relaxing and prosperous for ourself trip.

I would like to travel to the United States. I have heard a lot about this "Land of the Free and Home of the Brave" and it seems the perfect place for a scenery lover like me, With its tall mountains, wonderful beaches, and quite stable economy, I would be received kindly as they treat all people of all races with care and kindness. There are many big cities, such as New York and Chicago and I have heard of many of their famous cites, The Rocky Mountains, Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, and Niagara Falls. America seems a wonderful place to go and I have wanted to go there my whole life so I think for my next vacation, I will go to America!!!

One of the advantages is that you can meet new people and visit news countries for free. It is also a very advanced city and I love the way of life which, in addition to learn good English for my now is the pillar more important there is a part of a good education. I would love to make a trip there as well by being the place where I would go to live but before I would like to make sure that it is the site and would be the best way to find out.

There are many places that I would like to go, but thinking about my future I would prefer to travel and work with the Preu in Germany because is a country very economically developed and it has a lot of advantages, for example most of people that go to this country have immediately a job , the duties are cheaper than in other countries, it is a country that culturally can contribute you many things, the salaries are higher than the salaries in Spain and finally if you have a job you have got medical coverage, coverage for labour inability, coverage for sickness and private pension funds. But work in Germany have disadvantages too, for example the workers haven´t got right to do strike and you have to be formal with your workmates, but in spite of this issues I want still to go there. Besides this is a beautiful country which have got an incredible monuments like the Berlin Wall, Brandenburg’s door, the Berlin´s Cathedral , the German parlament and much more. I also think that the people that live in Germany are friendly and polite and work with my classmates would be very interesting. In summary it is the best country for live this experience.

On the one hand we can find in one of its skycrapers the perfect place to study and works in the fifty floor of the Rockefeller Center, for example.
And if you want to find calmness you can go to the Central Park and lay on the grass.
On the other hand, after working and studying hard we can go shopping to Time Square or if you have more money you can go to the 5th Avenue.
In adition at night many concerts and shows can be watched in the most important theatres of the world.
Furthermore the cultural exchange will be completed if you meet with people from there, learning english and their customs.
Finally for all that reasons i think that NY would be the perfect option where we could study and learn about an awesome city.

It would good that the preu thinks in the organization of one of this travel to prove it and see how is the impact, I think the impact would be good.
Some good destinations would be united states of Amercia, thailand,etc, I´m sure the students would be very happy with these travels but I understand the preu because a big part of them are very bad behavior and everything go wrong.
We want to take advantage of these years because in two years we will stay in the university studying very hard and the best ages to learn other languages are until the twenty years more or less.
In conclusion I would be very happy if we do some of these travels.
Firstly, I would like to travel for a long period of time. We need to understand that not everyone likes to go out of their home country. This experience involves changes in many ways, so you just need to get used to a new life away from your family. In any case, if the opportunity is given to me, I would travel to a country with cold temperatures, since in Spain is very hot along the year. I would not mind travelling to Luxembourg because I have family there and I could visit my grandmother, my uncles and cousins. The same happens with Italy because my sister lives there.

Because I would like to live in many different countrys because of different reasons. The first thing is that like very much travelling, and the exotic places, I like to see different ways of living, different cultures. In first place I would go to Paris, I know that it can sounds stranges after saying all that about different ways of living, because although in France people have another habits, they eat before, wake up early, etc., but at the end, they are westerner. ResponderEliminarI would like to return to Philadelphia. I went this past September with Paula, her daughters and nine people plus to the philadelphia trip organized by “la preu”. This experience was amazing, we went to many sites visited monuments, ate typical food as cheesteak, cut halloween pumpkins, we went to a maze of corn with our Americans people and also check how different the education system there of what we do every day. for example they can use mobiles phones, and eating in class, they don´t use notebooks or books almost never use ipad, can into and go out to the classes to go to the bathroom without permission of the teacher, classes last forty-five minutes and are students who go to different classes. however, we have banned all this and our classes last ten minutes more, but of course they are more responsible. I would love to go back and experience all that lived there other time because I think it was the best trip of my life and I met great friends that I had previously only crossed the corridors of “la preu”

I would like to work on something related to surfing in California there is a fondness and great waves, I think that could become a great professional. The California weather is parce enough time in Seville and it would be quite easy to adapt. Americans do not resemble the Spanish because they are cold, but if they had some Spanish women will change. I'd like to live in an American household that are large enough and comfortable not as the Spanish. On the one hand I would like to travel to Toscana in Italy because of the landscape and the food. I love Italian food. It gives you energy and strength, so you don’t feel tired. I would love to be taken by the preu to travel and work for a month to France. As my third languages I have it a bit rusty so it would be a great chance to improve and refresh it. I have been in Disneyland with my family and I completely fall in love with the environment there, so I would be over the moon if preu gave me the possibility to work there in the attraction park. I think if we know that the materials are very old we do not ensuciaríamos and neither estropeáramos, as we know that the materials that are in the Preu are new or that have no history behind it because we spoil nonsense. In addition we could live in a month a new culture and know that there is only one way of seeing the world but everyone has their way of seeing. As it stated in the text would work more because not accustomed to the site to try to impress would do more things and would do better. The trip could also be other continents because each continent has its culture and way of understanding life as climate, according to the geographical location, several factors influence. I believe that all students would accept and would go without thinking, but when we returned to the preu think we would like when we left. Everyone could go to a different place because I think if there are people you meet in the same place will do the same in Sevilla.
