  3. First of all, in my family there are not extrange traditions but there are a few that had been inherited by my great-grandparents. The extrangest one is from my father’s grandparents. When all my aunts and uncles had married, my grandmother started to name sheeps with the names of the members of the new family. So when I was born as I am the youngest in the family, we already had a big nativity scene with a big amount of sheep representing all my relatives. Another tradition from my mother’s grandparents is to decorate all the stairs with red bows and silver balls. The 25 December we used to go to a famous coffee shop in Sevilla called Ochoa to buy “polvorones del abuelo”. Another tradition is to decorate the house the house in Inmaculada´s Holidays but this year it has been imposible because we had been studying a lot.

  5. Christmas is in my opinion the best tradition holidays of the year. Traditions are powerful for a family.
Firstly, they bring families closer together. This time together helps you make new memories while also remembering the past.
But the ones that are most affected by traditions are children because they have a lot of fantasy.
Each year we have gone to church on Christmas Eve, and when we came home my sister and I were three gifts and we were allowed to open before we went to bed.
My sister and I are now 17 and 20 years and we still want to open the three special gifts under our tree on Christmas Eve, even after all these years. However the best day is 5th of January because I receive a lot of presents under the tree.
We decorate with all the traditional stuff tree, lights and presents. In my family, each year decorate our house in “la inmaculada” because they are the little holidays before Christmas.

Furthermore, during the week before Christmas, we have a meal and pray during that time for the poor and hungry because there are a lot of people without home being cold.

In my family, the specials traditions that we doing in Christmas are…:
We have a lot of traditions that other families don’t have it, I think so.
We celebrate all parties in Christmas. All of we (my father, my mother, my sister and I) have dinner the 24th night, the Christmas day my mother´s family and I eat in the grandmother´s house. In the New Year Day we always have dinner with my father´s family in the grandmother´s house. In my family we never celebrate SantaClaus´s day, but we always celebrate the magic king´s day. In this day we go to see the Twelfth Night, next we go to have dinner with my father´s family in the grandmother´s house. We always eat “churros” and “picatostes” with chocolate. Next morning with my mother´s family, we normally have a game for the more young. In this game we do one gymkhana with their presents, it is very funny and we have very well family moments.

After that, the 6th of January, we go to my grandmother’s home to pick up the presents and give her and the rest of the family their presents.

  15. There are four persons in my family; I, my little sister, mom and dad. Usually we
are just together with our family, but a few years ago my godmother was with us
    because she lives alone.
Our Christmas is always almost the same every year. At least I like traditions
but also changes. We take the Christmas tree and we
decorate it and then some presents start to appear under the spruce. Our
Christmas is at around five o’clock and after that we eat. I like many foods
which belong to Christmas and my favourites are ham, carrot casserole, chocolate .
    Later, after the lunch
we often take a walk outside and that’s nice particularly if the weather is good,
    and it always is.
Any radio channel you turn on, you hear just Christmas songs
I don’t like too glad songs, I prefer the peaceful ones. We listen to Christmas songs and eat
chocolate and everything is perfect and we can just relax.
I’ve also hoped for CDs and books. Last year I got a camera and it has been really
good. It’s nice to give a present for somebody and see how he or she likes

  16. Well, to be sincere, I don´t have any special or different tradition with my family in Christmas. I´m conscious that there are an amount of families with a peculiar activity for example doing a walk in a snowy mountain or visit famous firs because of their importance in Christmas. Year by year I stay with my family in these dates, enjoying the company with my dears relatives, eating soap, turkey and more kinds of meals, even if is Christmas Eve or New Year´s Eve. Gratefully, I don´t have any tragic accident with my family in these periods. However it should be interesting doing any different activity in Christmas, similar to the mentioned before. It could be another way of having fun with my family because I don´t see them normally, so we can keep horny memories of one of the most important terms of the year.

  20. There are traditions in my family for Christmas but not very different from the traditions of other families. We usually go to the city of my parents and meet all the family the Christmas’ eve day for dinner. We usually eat turkey stew with almonds and prunes, following a recipe of my great grandmother. We also take turkey soup and other starters, ending with Christmas treats and champagne.
On New Year's Eve we have dinner at home, we prepare the meal together, sometimes we eat lamb and sometimes fish, as well as shellfish, ham and other special starters. We received the year watching the “Puerta del Sol” bells, and taking the grapes, like most of the Spaniards. A special custom is to take a jug of water to the street after the bells, custom of the family of my grandfather related to the idea of casting out evil and that the New Year brings good things. My parents kept making custom. The Epiphany is also special for us, often we return to the city of my family and visited my grandparents and uncles wearing and collecting the gifts of the Magi as we did as children. It's a nice tradition that I would not like lost.

So on January 1 is a very special day for my mother’s family.

We usually met in my grandparents' house, because it was so big, but a few years ago was sold and moved to a smaller, as we are many were not so comfortable, so now we celebrate at my uncle Manu, who lives in a house in the center of Seville.
My uncle Manu and his wife, my aunt María José, make a special meal and my parents and my other uncles carrying something (wine, sweets, some cake, etc.). We always enjoyed together and after dinner, we organize some activity: some make a representation of theater (invented), play a guessing movies, my sister sings us something (she sings very well), etc.

Christmas is really special days for my family, apart from that we met in the typical dates we celebrate this curious coincidence.

The manger, animals, miniatures of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, the shepherds and the Three Wise Men are part of this popular symbol. It was started (according to legend) by Saint Francisco de Asis. Being with friends and family is what is done in these important dates. Another thing that I do is hooked to some series to spend the morning. I also like the year-end party, a good day to be with friends and pass perfectly. The days are then more calmly, waiting especially the Magi because the last days are boring because they are the holiday weekend. We do not usually put the Christmas tree, because it always makes us late and when we will put it's December 25th, but we have a belen in the classroom and various decorations with Christmas around the entire house, at the entrance and at different rooms.
Papa Noel does not have the habit of visiting to make us gifts, but no matter, come to our house the Magi, left gifts for everyone every January 6, as long as we have good during that year.
We leave food and water for his camels in traveling and when they have been already when the belen of living and other ornaments of the house is removed, so just because christmas my family and me.

It is a nice and agreeable sensation to be in family. We have of tradition disguise as something and to do a living Christmas crib whereas the small ones play, also we are in the habit of giving an invisible friend, and the better thing of the better thing they are such nice songs of navidad that we sing again and again without getting tired. Every year we renew the family photo in order that my grandmother has it in his bedroom since she was doing it with his family from girl. It is, for my part, the nicest epoch of the year where the laughs are constant.
Also I spend the Christmas with my friends, those persons who accompany me day after day in my tour of the life, in these past navidades we went away to Barcelona and spent it brilliantly. For me the navidad bases on friends and family, everything else is secondary.

My brothers and I approached each day a little more figurines of the three Magi from the east to the portal, almost were when the threshold announced that the traditional Christmas Eve dinner had arrived with its rich meats, sweets and candies, they made the night waiting more bearable Reyes, placing shoes, milk, water, grass and bread for thirsty camels.. bumping announced the arrival of their majesties.

Moreover wue always play some familiar games for example we play changing the possition of nativity scene figures and it is fun because we usually cheat and it makes we laught a lot. We also are very superstitious and that´s why we write in a paper bad things that happened the year before and next we burn it. Obviously, we put chritsmas trees too but for me it is not very important because I do not know the meaning of this it is more a common tradition. For me Chritsmas is a celebration to be whit your family and remenber people who died and praying for them.
We usually bring present too and decorate the house with silver and red colours. Sometimes wue usually go to the church and go to the center for see it.

  43. My family is a very typical family, but many of my relatives live outside Spain and this makes Christmas to have a more special meaning It is a time where you try to match the maximum number of people in each family.
For example, two of my father's brothers live in England. My aunt married a British and has two children. As in England they celebrate Christmas more than new year, we usually see them or for the end of the year or in New Year’s day. My cousins also remain in Spain for the Epiphany because in England is Santa Claus who brings the presents for the children for Christmas and in Spain The Three Kings. My uncle is married to a Mexican and one year they go from England to Mexico to spent the Christmas and another to Spain. So we only agree with them every two years.
In my mother’s family thing are easier they are only two sisters and both of them live in Seville so we meet for Christmas Eve, Christmas day, Old Year, New Year or Epiphany every year.
Apart from this small family affair, do not do anything special or different for Christmas, we just meet and eat as much as we can.

  44. My family is a very traditional family, but we do not do anything special or different than other families in Spain. We celebrate the typical days of Christmas in Spain: Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year, New Year and Epiphany
Every year we take turns agree good night with a family, my father’s or my mother’s, and Christmas day we go with the other one. When it reaches the end of the year, whether we spent good night with the family of my mother, then we go to celebrate the end of the year with my father’s and the new year’s day we change to my mum’s family. So one night and one day with each family every year.
For the Epiphany it is different, we get up very early in the morning to have time to go to may father’s and my mother’s houses to receive the presents of our grand parents. But this day is terrible, we arrive late everywhere, when we arrive, my little cousin have arrived yet and have open the presents. But it really don’t mind, every body is hapy everywhere.

We used to decorate our home in ‘La Inmaculada’, 8th of December, because this weekend is also my birthday. Christmas is time to be together, with your family and friends. As my father is from Seville and my mother is from Madrid, we spend Christmas’ days between Seville and Madrid. First week, we used to be here and we go to grandmother’s country seat and we are all together. After that, the second week we go to Madrid. We never celebrate Santa Claus’s day; we celebrate the Magic King’s day. These are very happy days.

The first Christmas that we went abroat was to visit New york and Orlando. There we spent the Christmas with a typical american family. They have a real Christmas tree cut from the forest. The family prepared us a lot of delicious food.
Next year we went to Portugal but this time all the complete family, my cousins, aunts and uncles. There we had a really good time together because we made many activities.
Another year we went to Rome where we could experience Christmas in an Italian way. We had the 25th dinner in a luxurious restaurant.
Last year we decided to go to a cruise in the Arabian Emirates. There it was summer and it was very warm. We visited Oman, Abu Dhabi, Dubai... and we had Christmas dinner in the cruise where we had to dress in a very smart way.
Finnally this year my parents wanted to make another trip but this time to Thailand. In this occasion i decided not to go with them because i prefer to pass Christmas with my friends in Sierra Nevada, there i skied and i had party every day.

Some of the normally tradition We follow in my house are the tree that I decorated to my taste, sometimes with snow and portal of Bethlehem that when I was little there were two, one big and one small and these last years only the small.
The special tradition is from cataluña because my grand-parents are from cataluña, the name is ´´tio-tio´´ and we do this when the people of Spain do papa noel,It's the family in the living room and gets a box in the ground, young children hit it saying Uncle Uncle bring me nougat and will sing Christmas carols on other side, while adults puts under box a gift and warn children that quit the box and they find the gift with the name of the child to the one that he has touched.
I prefer ´´tio-tio´´but this year is the first that we didn´t celebrate the ´´tio-tio´´ because the 25 of december of 2014 we were with my father´s family in sotogrande, Algeciras and there our aunts gave us some money of papa noel.

As a tradition, we usually go to Italy on Christmas every year, since mi older sister lives there with her husband and little baby. However, this has been the first year that my sister and her husband have come to Spain since they wanted to visit Seville during Christmas. First, we met on the 24th at night to have dinner. My mother usually cooks very special and tasty dishes! Some years, my cousins have come to Italy as well and we have spent the night together. After the dinner, we take a break and give to each other some presents. I really like this moment, however, I usually get a bit shy since we have to open them one by one in front of all my family. When we finish to open them, we sit again and we take the delicious dessert! Another custom is that once we are all together, we put a star on the top of the Christmas tree. I love Christmas because we are all the family together and spend really good times!

  52. My family probably do not have any kind of special tradition from other ones. As a Spanish family, Christmas time has not only a vacation mean but a realigious one. Christmas mean the celebration of the Jesus´ born. By one hand, we try to prepare ourselves with the four sundays before which is named "adviento" to recive this born with our best spirit. By the other hand, and most common, the Christmas means the famly´s meeting at the grandparents´home which all that include: everybody get reunited, and more who live far from home like me from Madrid with my maternal family or my uncle Charly who lives in Lima, with my cousins.
In addition; the significant date it is on the December 24th, Christmas Eve, where as we are used to, we have dinner at my grandparents´ from Sevilla. Other issue it is the dishes. The dishes are simple as contundent. My grandparents used to live in West Virginia for 20 years so that is why they are used to, more my grandmother, to prepare a huge turkey at the Morroccan style.

I like very much the Winter, the cold and Seville will be the perfect city if it will snow here, but sadly it only has happened once in my life. Well, we start putting together the Christmas tree and decorating it, we have ornaments which were of my grandmother, I think that they pass from generation to generation. We also put together a huge Bethlehem, when i was a child I already did it with my father, and now we still do it. We don’t put in it the Jesus figure until the 24th december, and the three kings the six. We meet, all the family to have diner the 24th in my grandmother house, with my uncles and aunts, cousins…and we also meet the 25th for lunch. The 31th we use to rent a house in the country and we make a party in the night, a family New Year’s Eve party. Finally the six in the morning we find our presents, and we go to the differents houses of the family leaving and taking presents from the three kings. We have all the years a good time!

The day before we used to go and see the Magic Kings ride in the streets of my town. During that day we used to go to Huelva because all the family are there and everybody exchange presents themselves.

On Christmas Eve we gather my family (which is quite small) and is the day we put lamb, I love lamb, I think if I could I marry him; also put snacks such as ham, loin, this and that.
It is assumed that gifts appear at night and in the morning when you wake up, when you find gifts and open anxiously, but there was an year when I was a kid that put too soon, and my cousin and I we discovered impressed in the midnight, my cousin stayed silent for a long time and I fell back to the ground hahaha

We have dinner with my parent’s family and my grandparents… all the members that can come to Christmas’ Eve. Also, we have a great dinner on New Year’s Eve and also New Year’s day, January 1st. Most people in Spain do that. They have a good time with their families and some people travel to another city to enjoy their holidays. We don’t not travel because my parents have to work and they are only free during the specific days of the festivity. One day is January 5th when we give our presents to other people. That is called Los Reyes Magos (the three wise men). There is a parade and they throw candies and other toys for children. I have a good memory of that day. I loved it when I was a child. We got the presents on the following morning, the 6th. When we get up all the presents are around the tree and it is a great day to share with the people you love.

  70. My family is quite small because I don’t have any cousin, so my brother, my sister and I are the only children on my close family. Also my grandparents for both sides all in Granada and Ceuta so my most and obligatory tradition each Christmas is to travel. Another tradition is to go all together to see the different “portales de belen”. I love that time because it is a time when I can disconnect and spend more time with my family. As a consequence of being just 3 children we usually have a lot of oddities for presents so these are my dreamy days. But instead of all I would change all the presents for could spend my entire life spending the holidays with my family that is my best present.

  71. Christmas in my family is a theme that unites us even more than usual, almost everyday Christmas family get together and do special things that may be impossible to perform other common days , like putting a dress on a good day , or make a caroling contest with speakers also put current , modern music and do a choir and all members of the family have to leave the center to make us dance , so that others follow in the footsteps of the person who is in the middle . All these things are ways that only do at Christmas, ie on specific days where we all enjoyed it and simpre makes the holidays are special

  72. In our family we have a special tradition. We met a family on Christmas Eve and ate dinner and when we sang some carols with several instruments ends: Zambomba bottle of anise and tambourine. Each sings a song and we're laughing all the time. We follow the Spanish tradition and when we got up we have 25 gifts Santa Claus because we are more than kings. It's a beautiful day for the whole family got together and had a very great night. We usually eat seafood and chicken as a traditional Christmas Eve. As an Andalusian family we put on TV channel south, it put carols from lunchtime until late at night. 25 afternoon we turn to gather the family for lunch, we do to celebrate Christmas and also to spend the food I So Bro in the previous night. We all want this night and this afternoon where we all get together, none are missing. It is the most important of these dates, staying with family. It is a tradition that our grandparents have taught us since childhood and I think all of us would also tell our grandchildren to continue the tradition. We should all celebrate this feast with family and not like some who do not want to celebrate with them.
