To Use, Or Not To Use The Cane

There were tempers flaring in the home of Demola Lewis, his parents threatening a police arrest, when he returned home from school with bruises gotten from a teacher’s cane recently. Demola, 14, a Junior Secondary three student of Government High School, Ipetumodu, told his parents he got beaten by his teacher for engaging in a fight with another student.
But for his father, Mr Lewis, no offence should warrant the extent of beating gotten from his teacher which was evident from the bruises on his son’s body. “I am not saying they should not correct my child, but this is too much,” he complained. “I don’t even beat my son to the extent of giving him bruises on his body so what right does a teacher have to beat my son like that?”
An outdated practice?
The use of a cane as a means of correcting or instilling discipline in a child by teachers and school administrators has been a topic of debate among several interest groups more than a few times. While many would say the choice of using a cane should be left for the parents or guardians alone, others say a cane should not be used either at home or in school for any reason.
Several people still fall under the school of thought that if you spare the rod, you end up spoiling the child. For them, a cane can be used by any older or matured person, in school or at home, to correct a child immediately so that he would not repeat the same wrong doing again.
Among the latter group who believe in the cane comes the question – to what extent should the cane be used in schools?
In most private schools in Nigeria today, the use of a cane has been completely abolished, forbidden some would say. For some of these schools, the adopted British or American curriculum being used to train the students does not conform with the use of a cane. Others have stopped using it or decided not to use it as a result of decisions made by the parents or school administration. The cane is mostly being used, however in scanty measures, by public school teachers today.
Schools without canes
Belinda Amao, the Head Teacher of Chrisland School, Ikeja, while speaking about the use of cane at a school function recently, said it was stopped because the management realised that it affects the relationship between the teacher and the students negatively.
“We realised that when a teacher uses the cane on a child, the child becomes withdrawn and would not be able to approach the teacher when he or she has problems with studies,” she said. “This could affect the child’s performance.”
At Bright Stars International School, Apapa, the use of cane was stopped after an unanimous decision was reached by the parents during one of the Parents Teacher’s Association meetings. “All the parents said they would prefer if the teachers stopped using the cane, so we had to oblige,” said Patricia Chukwuemeka, Head Mistress of the school.
Breaking the law
In 2011, the Lagos State Government passed a legislation which outlawed the caning, beating or physical torture of school students. The provision of the law stated that striking any adult person with a stick or other weapon constitutes a violent criminal offence statutorily classified as Felony Assault and Battery, for which jail sentences can be imposed after a fair trial, under Nigerian law.
However, Ajoke Osoba, an English teacher at Oshodi Senior High School, Oshodi, is one woman who doesn’t agree with the law. “I don’t beat them because I hate them, I beat them to discipline them just like I beat my own children and it always works,” she said, adding that she only beats her students on the palm and no other part of the body.
The parents’ view on the use of the cane is just as varied.
Caroline Paul, a mother of two said she has never used a cane on any of her children and would never allow a teacher beat her children with a cane. “One of the things I asked when I was looking for a school for my children is whether they use cane on the students,” she recalled. “I don’t believe in the cane and I was not brought up with it. There are other ways of disciplining a child.”
Tomisin Bakare, another mother believes the cane should only be used at home and not in school because “teachers can sometimes get too overzealous.”
But Taiwo Oyedele, a counselor and director of Children In Leadership Foundation, says that most Nigerian parents today are being misled by the Western culture. For him, you cannot use western methods to train an African child or African methods to train a western child.
“Most parents are just deceiving themselves these days,” he said. “What works abroad might not necessarily work here. I don’t believe a cane should be used at school but it should be used at home. A child who is not properly trained according to the dictates of the society in which he grows up would always misbehave later in life.”

Can you think of some other ways to punish a student without being violent? (200 words)

  1. I think sometimes you have to be violent with some students to earn a respect because they then to see that a teacher is imposed, still talking and giving jokes in class. But by law, can not be aggressive with a student, he would be punished to learn. And the most painful punishments for teens are out with friends, would be the first punishment for them to learn, not punish out. But this depends on the person, that student might please you not like to go out, and prefer to stay playing video games, so they should be punished without playing games. in conclusion I think the punishment does not help much for teenagers, they will gradually maturing and realizing what is right and wrong.

  2. Everybody knows that exist inappropriate or unsuitable behavior in the classroom, each behavior have sanctions. It depends on the age of the boys and girls, because if they are pupils with 4-5 years the teacher can punish them by helping the teacher cleaning the tables or maybe collecting the pencils and putting in the correct place. If the boys have another age as 7-8 years old you can punish them by deprive going out to the playground, another punish could be doing an extra work for home about the lesson they are working in class.
If we treat with boy of secondary school the punish are stronger, for example eject from school for two or three days, punish them by forbid with out going to extra out school activities. All depends according to the behavior the boy or girl have.
If the punish is because you have seen the boy using the mobile phone, I thing that you have to take from him the mobile phone and give to her parents.
Or as in our school happen if we come late to classes we have to go on Friday to one class with pedro´s father and there we have to study. I think it’s a good measure because in four or five years we will be working at a serious job and we cant be late, because if we are late our boss can send us to go to buy bread and to don’t come more.

  3. First of all, I do not think we have to apply violence or aggressive measures with children. We can consider that they do not k now what they are doing. Sometimes the children apply those measures to themselves. When a child makes something wrong we must not call him off with bad ways. The last thing we can do is hit them and call them off if they do not really know what they were doing.
There are a lot of measures that can be applied that do not violent, for example the simple fact of telling them to put at the end of the class and looking to the wall. It is a measure which is always applied to young students. It is an excuse to make them think about what they have done. Another measure without violence is making them copy two hundred times what they must not do. Thinking about another measure, it could be making the student going to the school when there are not lessons, for example a Saturday morning or Friday afternoon. Other measure without violence could be having a meeting with their parents. It could be used in an extreme chase. These measures will make the students understand they should not make whatever they want. They must respect the rules.

  4. In my opinion am not in favour of using the cane to punish a student. Formerly the cane was a usual method for punishing students. They could not answer or reply, they had to shut up and obey the orders of the teacher. Moreover, if in school you beat with shank, at home you came back to hit your parents because you had been punished at school, and if your grandfather found out that you had been punished at school, this you returned to hit - my grandfather told me. On the other hand, currently Reed already not can be used in schools as a form of punishment, since times have changed. Today there are many defence laws for minors and not minors who stop you from punishing students through strokes with the cane. Now that already is not. When there is an altercation is uses the punishment of expulsion from school or other forms informing the family of the mishap. If I had lived in that time would be against the use of sugarcane as a form of punishment, and it is a very hard method for students. I think that you must not go to those lengths.

In the old times the use of the cane, as a means of correcting or instilling discipline, has been very frequent in schools. Teachers always have used these measures with the excuse of educating their students. Altough this situation has improved a lot in the Western countries, in the African continent these measures are still being used. There are many people debating this topic and many of them refuse the use of the cane at home either in school for any reason. They asked to the Government that the use of the cane or any type of physical pain to students has to be forbidden, abolished and outlawed in the educational institutions. Most of parents think that their sons and daughters should not be beaten by their teachers. In some cases this might be quite dangeurous as teachers become overzeoulous and produce bruises in their student's bodies. In my opinion, I believe that the people from African continent that still believe that the use of the cane is correct has to leave deceiving themselves. Childs could be properly trained for society, at home and in the school, without threatening them with physical pain.

  6. Formerly, in the days of our parents and grandparents teaching was much harder because when you do not know something and testified against teachers were punished with violence and moral injury or physical damage .
Today we have progressed favorably in this regard because I do not think hitting a child is the best way to educate and these practices are now prohibited both in school and at home. For a child to learn what is wrong and what is good in school and learn to respect other teachers as punishment measures used in the evenings or on the playground as removing this time off and be forced to stay at school makes rethink what he has done to not happen again. If a student in a class is talking or misbehaving the teacher has the right to kick him out of class to not bother because apart from interrupting the teacher also interrupts colleagues who want to learn. Or when you're little you punish teachers repeatedly writing a sentence about what you've done wrong.
This and other measures can be applied to correct behavior without using violence and shock.

  7. The most important goal of discipline is teaching distinguish between good and evil. Good discipline gradually changes a selfish child into a mature adult who is considerate and respectful of others, self-confident without being hostile, and in full control of their impulses.
The establishment of reasonable limits prevents us from raising a "spoiled" child. The word "discipline" means "to teach". No means "punish".
I think each of us individually has a way to learn discipline and this will help us to educate ourselves in the teaching and non-teaching materials.
There should be a balance between punishment and reward and both proportional and equal strong depending on the severity of the deviation of the rules, both positive and negative. Only error proportional punishments apply, but you are wrong is not how good it would do the opposite. He should have awards for that improvement on the above, note that it starts to make an effort and that's offset, the more it costs to do it, the greater the reward. Positive stimulation is as important or more than punishment.
The type of punishment should be different depending on the age or age group you have and many levels, from verbal reprimand without the presence of other colleagues, change of place in the classroom and if the rest can not teach the class , him away, this time, in a place of study. There should be opportunities for change in attitude and be very consistent in meeting the standards, only then will be fulfilled more and more.

When I read the article I had curiosity if today corporal punishment at schools is only in countries of the third world or also in other countries. I looked in internet and I was really surprised when I see that 89 countries permit physical punishment in schools, like for example hit with the hand or a cane, burning or forcing students to sit for a long time in uncomfortable positions. I think it is really shocking that in countries like Afghanistan or Algeria it is prohibited in schools and in the USA or Australia not. In the USA there are still 19 states that allow corporal punishment at public schools. Teachers and principals of public schools in Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, etc. can hit their students. I think this is really very horrible. I feel very lucky that it is not allowed anymore in Spain. I think a good solution is to make a student stay after the school finishes because everybody wants to go home. If there is a really big problem with a student maybe the whole class can have a discussion with the student and the student has to give the reasons why he is behaving like that.

  9. Any form of punishing students than violent strikes me as a valid form of cruel punishment are the worst and they are not learned but angry over the punished . An example of punishment could be locked in a class without anyone or anything to occupy themselves and take their time so they get bored and despair alone in that room , what would you think and reflect on what you have done . Another way to punish any serious student with some kind of social work in the same school or helping people cleaning or other workers in need and that the serious student to a horrible punishment that you would do well to accept the error would have committed. They are also typical punishments : expulsion or change of class sites , I think they are not tough enough if what was done is really bad because the students are used to it and see it as normal, not as a punishment that may harm them in their school career .

In my opinion there are a lot of ways to punish a student without being violent, although in Spain is forbid the punishments using violent.
The punishment should be immediate, real and proportional to the fault that the child committed. One of them could be write five hundreds times the things that the students musn’t do. Another common punishment could be punish without them break time but I’m not in favour of that because they have to eat something at the morning , other is to forced them to come on Saturdays mornings or Fridays evenings, this is less common than the others but it is usually in the USA. And finally a good one is send them many duties and if they don’t do , the teacher should punish again buy maybe with another punishment.

  11. In my opinion, the only language that works with children is love and education, you do not need to punish some one to teach them.

In case that you want to educate, education begins at home, in the school, if the pupils are fighting between them, or they are offending another colleague, you must work with them different methods of approaching. You must be able to demonstrate with your actions what is good and what is bad. You must show them respect, so they will respect you and the others.
If you think that they are doing some wrong actions, you just told them, what is wrong, and why, and teach to them a better way, in case that you have more than one way to solve the problems, you must try that they discover themselves how to solve the problems.
For example, imagine that one of your pupils is not doing the homework, so you must not get in ridiculous in front of their colleague, you talk to them and try to investigate about the cause, in case that this one is a lazy one, of course , that one will not enjoy all the break time, in case that the cause will be a different one, we need to try a solution together.

The cane is not the solution, love is the way.

  12. From my point of view the use of the stick does nothing to improve the behavior of children. I think today if my teachers used the cane country all you would get would be to remove the child from him , so that would be afraid to approach teachers and we would behave worse and rude. Violence is not a good way of teaching inside or outside of school . I think parents should not teach their children based attacks. There are many ways to educate a child well and I think the key is to have good communication between family members so that the dialogue is used as an educational method . Children must be taught to behave from small because as we grow more and more difficult . I think they should be punished when they do something wrong and scold but without aggression. Based on anger and sanctions the child will learn what you should and should not do and how to behave in every situation. In conclusion I am not at all agree with much less violence with violence once and today in some countries teachers have with their students.

I think that for educate a child the parents have that punish with the thing that they like for example with the TV, without leave in the street , without mobile phone ,computer etc..
Because when they do something wrong and the parents punish them with this things and they can´t be without this thing that more like they don´t to turn.
Also sometime I punish them when they to do something wrong that help me to clean the house , arrange the clothes in the bathroom…
And when the punish is because the child have bad qualification in the school I punish enclosed in her room in study and when he finish I would ask the theme for the exam.

Nobody should be punished with violence. There are many other ways to do this without having to resort to it. This is even easier if we talk about students.
Students sometimes have to study and perform tasks about things they don't like, so that the punishment should start there. Sending extra homework or doing pop quizzes is a good form of punishment, because the student will learn to be worker in addition to not repeat a bad act next time if he doesn’t want more homework. Another thing to do to punish nonviolently to students is to work with tasks of the school, not only during school hours (for example cleaning the yard to not have garbage), but also outside school hours (helping to organize major school events). As a last resort we could say that the typical choice of schools is good; punish the students with negative behavior documents, and when a number of documents are reached the student must be expelled.
In conclusion we can say that there are many ways to punish students without resorting to violence, and that in many cases, violence doesn't improve things, because it does that students become more violent in the majority of cases.

  15. In my opinion there are a lot of different ways to punish a student without being violent. Student are children who are learning subject but they are learning how to be in their adult life so if they are being teaching with violent maybe they would behave towards with violent in the future.
So that it is very important to punish student without being violent. Maybe a good way to punish a student is to take them away the things that they love. For example if they don´t study and they don´t treat people with respect they could be punish without going out, without mobile or without computer. If the student don´t do his work he are not going to receives his “salary” as if an adult don´t go to work or do it bad don´t receives his salary to.
Students and specially teenager´s students are receiving formation in order to be great professionals and responsible adults in the future. If we punish students with violent, it only going to attract more violent in the school and outside the school. So I think that it is not a good idea to punish student with being violent and I am sure we can find so many ways to do it.

  16. of course if there are thousands of ways to achieve just that. for example one of them would send him to write a thousand times a phrase, or talk to their parents so that they take appropriate measures, that although we spent some time with the teachers no longer that teachers that we have had to educate our parents have been with the education of our homes.
then can be more or less heavy but you have to have minimum education.
that we can not make it to the hands, that's the last. have been few cases of students who stick to teachers? or vice versa, how many teachers have stuck them to students? before if that education was different, but thankfully that has changed ...
but I think the key that will allow a teacher to teach and to be respected is the same treatment from him, and that is good for people who like to talk with outside of school.

  17. Í definitely do not agree on the use of the cane nor any other type of physical agression. Sometime ago I heard my grandmother talk about this type of punishment in schools in the past. In those days it was very normal to punish students in class by hitting them with a cane on their hands or arms. I think this is terrible but I can not believe that nowadays this still happens in some schools. There are many other ways of punishing without physical aggression. 1. A student can be punished by making him copy a number of pages from a book and not leave the class until that has been finished. 2. Making the student come to class on a Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.3. Not allowing the student to go to recess at mid morning. 4. Sending the student out of the classroom and into another one where he will have to do extra homework.5.Making the student help the teachers in correcting exams at after school hours. These are just a few ideas but there are so so many that could replace the cruel way of punishing students in schools. Physical aggression creates a barrier of fear and does not allow for a fluid relation between the teacher and the student. It is definitely not a positive situation and should be avoided.

The best punishment is sending him a Saturday punished as they do in punishing preu at recess or unable to leave their friends
another good punishment is to send a job costing and work that makes you think so you do not have to do again.
if they are parents here who punish their children could punish the hard way and you could remove the mobile or you could leave without leaving punished with friends or street party.
punishment without reasons is worse because when you punish them less obedient.
Formerly it was too extrictos because teachers can beat them to the students and that does not seem right, but so was the way they obeyed and not laughed at them.

This has led to fights consecutively in schools , lack of respect for only raise their hands , the teacher refers the student as something natural, is to contrario.La cuano adult should have order and discipline but if showing him coldly without come to blows without teaching that way , if not respetandoses both. These actions have caused rebellions stronger but hard to peel contains alfin after his victory. From my perspective I see these last measures more feasible although occasionally some would not be bad to give another blow , as some parents do not know how to do it and educate them. But to come to some fictitious attacks also cause the teacher for harassment.

  20. To Use, Or Not To Use The Cane
I personally am not fond of being stick to children at school, punishments like cleaning the school expulsions, extra days of school, extra tasks ... but not at all agree with violence, I do not believe with this respect, but fear is achieved. Y does not seem right that someone see many hours a day as a teacher you can be afraid, because a time would come that the situation would be very complicated and the child would end up leaving school , either way. Because no one likes to get hit and still less to be nervous all day wondering if you are getting with a cane or not.
By or I think and am more in favor of children with gastigar work, but never with violence because when a child is two whole days cleaning for being bad, sure this is not going to misbehave in a while without any have to use sticks, rods or other utensils promoting violence.

Inform students that you are always available to give help and support. This provides a positive basis for learning and encourage students to do their best in school.

  27. Of course using a cane is wrong and out of fashion. There are many different options to punish students who behave badly without using physical violence. Actually, using physical violence does not do any good to what they want to achieve by using it. There has to be some kind of awareness of the wrong by the student and some ways to correct that behaviour or attitude.
For example, they might not be allowed to go out to trips and so they miss fun activities. Also, spending some time out of the class or having a conversation with some school authority. They can also be made to have an extra exam or make a presentation in front of the class about a subject. If a were a teacher I would be hard to those students who misbehave and I would call their parents immediately in order to think of an appropriate punishment together and according to the bad thing they have done.
The objective is that these people think twice next time before doing or behaving in a wrong way. So hitting someone will be completely useless. Maybe it will stop them form doing stupid things for a while but if the aim is to educate something else needs to be done.

It is not necessary to forget that the principal aim is to improve the knowledge of the young persons. A bad experience can turn in good if important values can be transmitted in these moments in the growth of the person.el punishment must be always positive and negative as for example he is forced to leerun by book that makes to him extract positive conclusions, make some activity out of the school take care for example as patients or clean the classes during a weekend .lo better him is never forcing to studying more saying that the teacher should ask the near one him That the teacher was asking him next day or for example forcing the pupil to be going to class the weekend to study. The important thing is to teach him that of the mistakes is learned and that is not bad to be wrong in the life because we all are wrong, but if it is necessary to have a positive attitude before the mistakes and extract the positive thing of them, the teachers must do to think to their and to be useful to continue learning.

Another way of punishing is using the expulsion for several days of the college or of some class in I make concrete since the dread of the pupils really they are his parents and do not believe that it does grace that they expel his son of the college to any father and equally they were taking the measurements that they create opportune to educate his son. These measures are those that are in use day after day since the pupil is in total judicial protection and if some teacher uses the violence before some this pupil one will see with the justice.
I meet in total agreement that should be prohibited that the teacher uses the violence before some pupil since it seems to me that the education of the child has to be a problem of the parents and not of the teacher though also I think that some already major children are very bad polite and that occasionally it they would not come badly to use the firm hand on them!

I think there are many ways to punish a student and give reconsider their bad behavior rather than using violence , I have to use the heavy hand is the last thing that should be done in a class , no one has the right to lay a hand on another . I 'm surprised when my father tells me as were the teachers at the time that I was in school , it's awesome having the experiences I lived and as silly you got almost a beating today seems very well that this banned, I think it depends on what you have made the student will be punished in one way or another, I believe that if you have done is a high gravity there will I punish him more harshly with expulsion from school, also can be punishing hours making them attend more strict at school doing extra chores or even a greater number of tasks to the other students for their disregard or inattention in class, although I am not in favor of punishments , penalties that can be do in a school do not think it would serve the students to reconsider each one is as is and that annoys, will continue bothering you not consider be equal , that is one thing that is in the way of being of each and do not think that nothing gets to punishments like much but little scare , especially who are stuck in the school and not bound by his own will

I think that any form of non-violent and that was fair and in proportion to the subject which is punished. In the Preu have many examples of punishments that are rather more fair without having to beat us.I've never had that experience and I hope that here in Spain that or occur, although or surprise me that there are still teachers who continue to do so.Here in the price for example we have the punishment of removing the mobile when using (same as your nazareno) classes, also the assistance on Fridays and Saturdays to study for any justified reason, although some not so justified times. Also I like the deliver Kilos for the Food Bank. But take this opportunity to say I find it too strict no leaving class for arriving a minute late and sometimes while the professor in class, I think that is an exaggeration and also lose us very important kinds, primarily by that there are times that motive is justified, breakdowns of buses or delays after be half an hour waiting for it.

I remember recently I saw on TV a program where appeared a father beating his daughter in the United States with a belt and also the father was judge.I do not agree with violence to educate.

I think that to use the violence in the class or in the house isn´t a good way for education the young students because the teacher can educate or correct the education or bad behavior with other ways. In the past, the teacher use the rules sor strike the students ( when the students were bad behavior give in the hands with the rules and other form to use the violence was to pull the ears).
I think that the corrects ways for educate the students could be:
    1. For example, in my school when have bad behavior bad the teacher punish us and we have to go to school the afternoon Friday or morning Saturday for study and we can´t speak in the class.
    2. 2. Other way is expel two or three days to the school and in the correspondent house to do very homework as punish´s way .
This is the best punish´s way in the school because the violence musn´t use never.

First you have to talk to transmitting to the child what to do and what they need to correct their behavior. If it happens again tell him to go so assimilating what to do and what not to do in your day to day. If later the child will not change will have to impose a punishment as stay in your room and think about what happened and what to do and not do. Always telling him about strictest way and assimilating who have to keep respect and how you should behave , this will make the futro has a better behavior in society and know their responsibilities and obligations and all you have to do. If it is true that sometimes it is important to give children a campion as help in making your best behavior, but not with beatings propiciandole was done before . All these measures are very important for children to have a good behavior in society and children themselves will give them better results sexism in the future.

I think that be violent haven´t effects in a student when they do something wrong, for example, if a boy or a girl have an argument with the teacher of the school you wouldn´t be violent with the boy or the girl because it is unnecessary and useless, but there are moments that the parents seems compelled by the bad behavior of the girl or the boy. But also in this case we couldn´t use the violent when we have to punish a student , we have to maintain the calm and use others types of punishes like remove things that they want, for example, there is a student that love play football or other sport and he or she has a bad behavior and you have to punish his or her bad attitude, you can remove the practice of his or her favourite sport and he or she can thinks about this. The last type of punishing is to put a teacher in one subject that he or she is bad, or simply she or he has a bad behavior in this subject. These are my solutions to the problem of use or not to use the violent to punish a student

TO USE, OR NOT TO USE THE CANE

One form to teach to the child in the schools not using the cane is…
The teachers start to use other measures like: they punish the students when they behave badly with one punishment, the teacher calls the parents and tells them what the child has done. They talk about the situation and next they help the child with some advice or things that the child can use to solve the problem.
Other punishment, if the child did something very serious they can expulse to the child many days or like we do in La Preu that the child is forced go to the school on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
It is very important that the teachers and parents talk if there are many problems and sometimes it is more important talk than punish.

Another point of view the first punishment, him if I do not Fulfill the norm is less serious is to let any day studying until later, If That person continue to Fulfill without more days would be added, up to a full week, gold Also punishments always leave it would use recess and continue with Their studies.
I think the two should convinar views and not become very violent but some students have to respect you, because otherwise students will always take a joke and no study in your classes and this will would cost your job.

Imagine that students are impolite or shout in class, well, a good way to punish them could be make them to go to school on saturday and sunday to clean the school.

if a student hit a teacher or a classmate, the director of the school must expel them mínimum three days. Furthermore, they will have to take extra exams.

Finally, if students are polite and respect their classmate, but they dont study, the appropiate punishment can be make them to go on saturdays to reinforce maths and language classes ….

  40. Nowadays everybody knows that it is not necessary to be violent to educate children. Obviously, teachers and parents need to tell children what is good and what is wrong. They have to guide them to be good people and to have a good behavior wherever they go. Sometimes teachers have to punish students to make them understand that what they have done is bad and that everything has its consequences. Good ways of doing this are punishing them to stay at school more time than anybody else, reducing the qualifications in the marks because of their behavior, not letting them to repeat and exam when the cheat and so on. There are many measures that can be taken against them but always without being violent. It also important to talk with them because maybe there is a reason of the behavior they have. If they have more problems behind them, at home for example, if someone help and solve the principal problem, everything can be okay soon. There are some occasions when it is better to not allow the person to go in the same school again because there might be serious problems. In conclusion, there are many ways to make students see what to do and when without being violent.

  41. In my opinion, I know there are many children who are very difficult to control in class. I have also understood that once the teachers used violence to varying degrees, to give a lesson to the student who behaves badly. I think many times the teacher would feel like to act with violence but the best way is to take a deep breath and think of some way to punish the child. I can give some examples that can help, for example you can think of any physical exercise, as it would give 3 laps of the school grounds in less than 7 minutes, or 20 push-ups every time you open your mouth to say something stupid. Another good punishment would be to go to school on a Saturday at 6 am to deliver punishment and come back. As you can see there are many ways to punish without applying physical violence, though a bit psychological.

  42. Long time ago, children where normally punished with a cane when they had a bad behaviour. It usually was used at school, at home or anywhere. Fortunately, this changed though stayed during some years. This type of punishment integrated violence for the children, and even in some cases the death of them.

However, today, punishments are controlled by the authorities at school, so any children can not be punish with any type of object.
Now, we can see different forms to control students without violence. For example, when we have a bad behaviour at school our teachers can obligate us to stay go out of the classroom until you end your punishment. Another one is when you have to come to school the days which are not school day, such as Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. And finally, we are punished losing the playground and staying at the classroom doing homework, when the other ones are in their free time.

To sum up, we can say that nowadays the punishments are supervised by the law, so if a child is found with any damage by his parents, they can go to a tribunal to denounce the facts. The law will give them preference over any other cases.

The first thing that must be clear is that violence is the worst way to educate a child since this can create trauma that are not good because they can manifest when I grow up.Best for educating a child is perseverance and patience since they are small and can be stressful
the best way to help children learn is have a good dynamic, the best would be a dynamic that makes them play and learn while having fun in this way is more easy for them to learn as to remember the game you remember the lesson.
In my opinion, I do not think you should do as in the past, I refer to use violence in the classroom, as I've said is an ancient method that is worth anything. Education should not be something that terrorize kids because that can make that students lose the illusion and in the future can leave school and everything because of the teacher who is the only person that you can correct the course of their students in the future

  44. Violence will always be part of our lives. The question is what we do with this problem. New models and techniques of conflict resolution we can use in schools and in the family can be an important means to have a happier lives.
Some teachers and parents claim that corporal punishment makes it easier for teachers to manage their classrooms. However there is little evidence that caning or beating are as effective as many people believe. Hitting children is also a dangerous practice, which can cause physical and psychological injury.
Teachers should impose non-physical disciplinary measures as an alternative to beatings or canings. Teachers can require students to write a statement describing the negative effects of their behaviour, or to apologize for the mistake in front of their classmates. The misbehaving child could sit on a chair or a mat at the back of the room and think about their mistake and of ways to improve their behaviour. You can ask the child to perform additional academic work. You can require the student to bring his or her parents to school to talk about poor behaviour.
Children learn respect by being respected.

The bads behaivours of the students must not be punished of violent form, in any case it is necessary to take advantage of the need to correct the bad behaviors and to achieve that the student learns of his mistakes.

There are always several students in all classes that talk a lot and do not behave well, I if Professor would give 5 opportunities for each student, if 5 warning the student remains the same, would speak seriously with him so he is acting well and if I see that it remains the same and would take other measures like talking to their parents, but a teacher can never know the problems that a student has and why it behaves well in class by the both the first thing is the compression and if the teacher is put in the place of the student perhaps is account of because behaves badly in class and what is the solution.

  47. I completely disagree with this method and I do not think that this type of
    punishment works properly.
Parents have to teach their children How to behave in every situation. Normally
children obey their instructions. I recognize this is a hard work, but if a mature
relative keeps an eye on them, they can be educated without many problems.
I strongly believe that the use of a cane is not means of discipline, if children are
afraid of this kind of punishment, they will not able to learn and they will have
    bad feelings towards theirs teachers.
Teachers can tell young children off for behaving badly and forbid them to do
the things they enjoy with. Nowadays, in many kindergartens when a two years
old boy behaves unsuitably, he is sent to a corner, called “chair to think” and he
stays there for two or three minutes in order to understand what he has done
wrong. Most times he does not work out what he has done wrong, but he
understands perfectly that this is a punishment,
When they are getting older and become teenagers if they do not obey the rules
at home or at school, educators can use other ways to transform their behaviour
-Do not let they go out
-Finishing their assignment before letting them hang out
-Get up them early to study

Avoid applying a punishment with screams or fights, because it indicates that our behavior is negative and vindictive , which will strengthen an unacceptable behavior. If we teach children to resolve a conflict is to shout , will not solve any problem. A teenage students is worse than I think they are punished because revolutionize more than they could be , probably cast them cross nagging teacher in all classes. But the smaller they could be punished without being violent for example ..
Sending them to write fifty times " I'll never answer the teacher " , leaving them without recess, calling his parents home so they know what their child has done, without playing punish , punish them by having them next door in recess while their mates run and play , leaving them in a corner at the other end of the class for a while standing , casting class ..

One way to punish a student for example is imposed by our center preu in which any act that is outside the norm you have to go to study for three hours in a non- school hours.
Another example that comes to my mind right now is whether such punishment is getting someone should go with at recess and be your friend. Also for the person who is always late (like me) the punishment could be having to stay in school more time you have taken . Another serious punishment for example which would not bring the multiplicarle tasks each time tasks do not bring as not directly fulfills punish him by suspending the material . For talking in class a good punishment would be to put a zero in class note for not taking care. For those who disrespect I believe that the appropriate punishment would be expulsion from the center and that can not be tolerated

I find it a bad form to punish children, because if they do it, when those children grow up they will become more aggressive.
I find a normal punishment to put a boy or a girl out of the class, so they can think about what they did wrong.
Now, children conducts are different than before, this is because the situation in which we live (before there were a lot of wars, so children had to mature before).

There are already many steps to punish students without using violence. Do not go far, here on many punishments Preu get students to learn, but I see these excessive punishments ... You can punish a student forcing him to stay after class to do many duties the next day, etc... But I believe we must not punish students for everything, do not always have to blame us and this is true even if I say so I'm a student. Guilt can be both teacher and student. Also must be punished according to the gravity that has what the student has done, and even if you have to throw the ball from his act or repeated acts, as it is thrown. But always measuring the severity of the event. Find a suitable punishment or simply warn that the next punishment is what is paramount.

In my opinion, punishments for students who abuse of teachers or schoolmates who suffer bullying have to be totally strict.

It’s unacceptable to let children abuse of others. In this cases people affected have to go to the police and condemn them; don’t let the scary paralyze us.

Obviously the punishments of students who get distracted or distract other students don’t have to be so strict. I remember that my grandma usually told me how her teachers punish students in her time. She told me that

students had to kneel holding a pile of books in both hands.

Here you are not allowed to hit children at school even with your hand, and I think that is good because some teachers would take advantage of this form of punishment and I don´t think it is a good idea. There are other forms of punishment for students who misbehave without involving physical violence. For example they can stay for extra hours at school doing extra work, or miss their free time during the day. Letting their parents know about their behaviour is also another way of preventing them from behaving badly. You can also not allow them to go on school trips or take part in enjoyable activities which are all non-violent ways of punishing students without causing them physical harm or making them afraid of their teachers. They can also be expelled from the school for some time but I don´t think this is necessarily a good idea because it doesn´t solve the problem for anybody.

  57. Years ago, education was completely different, because the lives and families they were too. Schools were not mixed, were demanding and values taught to women and other men. The women were taught to be good housewives and good wives' and do needlework, with time to read and write. Normally schools were nuns and priests. The men were taught to read and write the basics (poor people) working hard in other family businesses and other (rich) studied university.
To all this a rudimentary method is added and old school, in which a stick, ruler, belt or slap on the ass and other body sites was allowed and almost mandatory. Children were looked writing with left, were bad looked. Teachers forced to write right. Such teaching seems too hard for children. Today that is no longer used. But there is another side of education, children laugh at teachers, upset and disrupt classes and not do anything against them. This the other side of the coin, one with no freedom and debauchery. In my opinion, yet, we have not been to the midpoint of a good teaching method that satisfies us both students and teachers, and learn about it.

If I were a teacher I would ask my students to do extra homework . For example, if they don’t behave in class, I will ask the students to do a film in English. They will learn a lot and also they will be happier. But I think that the extra homework will give the student more points. For example, if one has a 5, he will have one 6.
If I were a teacher, if a students is not paying attention in class, I would ask him or her to help to other student who can understant the subject. Then, the student will realize that it is very important to be in class and to understand everything that the teacher is explaining. Because if you work in class, it is easier for you to do the homework at home.
But I will never use any phisical punishment because I think that it is a great nonsense and will not help the students. Furthermore, the students will be against the teacher and they will not be happy.

  61. From my point of view the use of violence in education is not a good method. Because if someone is being treated in this violent way he will follow the same footsteps of those who taught him and will also educate using violenc3.

There are many more ways to educate children, such as blackmailing, you can blackmail him to take something that you really like, and so probably consider to avoid losing it likes. Also if children learn when they grow up without violence is more likely to be non-aggressive.

Another way to educate a child without violence is with love, to see that you are taking care of him and worried about his future and in this way he will feel comfortable with his education.

In my opinion the best way to educate a child is leaving his freedom, so the child does not feel pressured to study and learn just by you and he will do it by himself. The more you push a child to study the less he will learn to study, he will always need someone pressing him. However, if the child is left free to study or not probably he will do it by himself. This is an advantage for parents, since they do not have to worry about the child to study, because it does not need me to tell anyone.

In conclusion, education should be free of violence.

persons and that is a practice that should have been abolished long ago completely. At the school, teachers should have a good comunication with the parents and together they
should try the best answer of the kids through leadership, understanding and stimulation. The punishments in the school could be bad marks, hours studying at the school library,
school extra works, ban to go to excursions...The behaviour at home is borne by parents and they can do it in the way they prefer, but I think the physical punishment is never
an option. I think the main tool is the education. Children should know what is bad and what is good. It is important the kid to know if he doesn?t do anything he is going to
have a consequence and in the same way if he does something he shouldn?t. A good strategy could be to use what the children like more in the world, for example if it is video
games, the parents could use the punishment: if you do not that you are not going to play video games and vice versa.

I think there are other ways to punish or correct behavior, as it may be to prohibit the use of devices such as phones or tablet, set hours of additional studies, prohibit departures on days off and I even commented my uncle who is a Judge in Granada, the Judge Calatayud even for young people who had committed crimes he imposed the sentence in social activities such as caring for the elderly, attending soup kitchens for the disabled to teach and accompany them to the doctor for example, in order for society as useful and useful for young commits crimes and violence if it is used, it may become more aggressive
