A Los Angeles family says they are heartbroken that a “beloved”
8-foot-long alligator they have raised for 37 years since it was a baby
was taken away by L.A. City Animal Services.
The investigation into the illegal pet started late last year when
Animal Services received a complaint, the agency said. They weren’t able
to find the alligator at the time and believed it was relocated, so
they decided to do a surprise visit at a later time, Commander Mark
Salazar told ABC News today.
The surprise happened Monday after the agency received a new tip from a
neighbor reporting an alligator in the backyard of a house in Van Nuys.
he homeowners told ABC News that they refused
to let the officers come in because they said they wanted to protect
their pet. However, after obtaining a search warrant, officers
discovered Jaxson, an 8-foot-long alligator in a box under leaves.
She was bought from a pet store in 1977 and considered a pet and family member, owner Laura Mattson told ABC News.
But there was another surprise.
"What was disturbing was that there were two small animal carcasses that appeared to be cats in the box,” Salazar said.
Mattson said she has cats of her own and even takes care of feral cats, but she has never fed Jaxson cats.
“I don’t like the fact people are insinuating Jaxson ate cats in the neighborhood,” Mattson told us. “She was perfectly docile.”
Her brother, Ron Gorecki, who also lived in the house with Jaxson, said they only fed Jaxson meat from the groceries.
“We fed her chicken legs, hot dogs, turkey,” he told ABC News. “No live food. No kittens. No cats.”
The siblings said that they believe that feral cats are being poisoned
and that two must have wandered into Jaxson’s box and died in there sick
from poison.
Salazar said he remains skeptical. He is asking anyone who has lost
small pets over the past few decades in the area to come to them with
information for the ongoing investigation.
Jaxson has since been captured with the help of reptile experts from the
Los Angeles Zoo. The 37-year-old alligator is currently in the
quarantine area of the zoo, a spokeswoman said.
The owners are facing citations for maintaining a wild animal without
proper care and maintenance, and without proper permits. They could face
further criminal charges as well, Salazar said.
It is illegal to keep wildlife without permits in Los Angeles.
Gorecki said that he and his sister want to work with the zoo to make sure Jaxson gets the perfect home.
“We’re going to keep calling and visiting the L.A. Zoo to make sure we
still see her and stay in contact with her because we love her. We’ll
always love her.”

I have three dogs in the country, a lot of people say… ´ohh three dogs are a lot` but I have these dogs because I hunting with they. In my family hunt is a tradition and more with dogs.
Also, I don’t have these animals alone to hunting, I like a lot of my dogs I have had dogs with me since I was a child.
When I had 5 or 6 years I had a dog, it´s name is Luna. It was a puppy and when I left the potitos ( I ate a lot of it ), Luna finished all of them.
This and more experiences did that I love this animals in special.
I recommended to all people that buy a dog or adopt one. It is a animal that never fail you.

However, pets must be attended in all their necessities, as go to the vet, their cleaning, food and go for a walk. But this is not always done by the family when they have a pet, because parents cant attend the necessities of the pets and in some cases, children are too young to be responsible about them, so we can find pets abandoned or even damaged and societies for protect animals are full of them.
For this reason, when we wanted to have a pet, would be better to adopt any of them instead to buy one for our children.

Actually I love to have a pet dog on a whole truth that the only more dimension that I would like to have a dog as it is a faithful friend of man ready and animal. A dog is a wonderful thing because it gives you love companionship, friendship and as someone else in the family so I love to have one but the problem is that I live in an apartment and it is not comfortable for a dog as an animal needs a certain freedom, guy had a bloke named winemaker but hit by a tractor and my grandfather had a black German Shepherd named Bartolo who died more. I remember once gave me a kid a fish tank but without knowing all the food that made you take lots and the next day he ate the fish died. So I would love pet but not a cat as they give me the creeps even a bird because I hate to be locked but I love to have a dog but now I can not when I-lance buy me think. Having pets is something fantastic and very nice, but also a great responsibility. Pets are animals and need lots of attention and a lot of care, some more than others. There are many types of pets, dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, turtles, iguanas, snakes, birds, fish, etc ...
Pets are a good distraction, it is healthy to be with animals, but you have to take good care.
I have a turtle pet. This is a tortoise. Turtles are cold-blooded and need a dry area in your aquaterrariums sun, an aquatic area and a ramp up and down. I am very happy with my turtle is fun to care and affection catch him. I would love to have more pets, especially a ferret and a snake, but I can not because I live in a very difficult and serious small floor care for animals.
I think that pets are a big distraction and make lots of company, but you know they are living beings, and we have to take care of their daily needs, but it is better not buy a pet.

If I have two dogs, a Weimaraner and a Dachshund one the Weimaraner is called Drake and is a type of large, fast, active, playful nervous dog and my brother is always playing with and fight but always playing teckel dog is a more serious but also very fun to have a nose the two dogs loves the hunt and hunt us they are responsible for scar animals from their beds and run behind them. But my dogs do not live with me have them in the field and we cares a man, I only see them on weekends but still love me very much, but at Christmas we bring you a couple of days at home but my mother this does not do much grace. When I get the celebration of my birthday my friends regalon me a pet and not any one was a turtle.
Still I have my turtle but now at this time of year they overwinter and take all the time sleeping without eating but will you throw food, but summer is the opposite get to eat a lot and is growing but mine is very small but still i love you.
I just had a pet in my life. It was a fish and I did not last long because one day jumped from his tank and fell to the cables from the TV. Obviously not electrocuted because the cables are protected by a plastic membrane, but if suffocated. To me have always loved dogs and would love to have one, but my mother does not like, so until you live anywhere else I cannot have a pet. Although this was when I was little, now you realize all the responsibilities it carries. I would like to have a dog since I it see a very good animal of company, Always they are there for you, always ready to play and run or simply to sit down silently close to you. They love you without importing what and they do not judge you. After a hard day in the school or in the work, your dog will be ready waiting to give you the welcome wagging the tail happy and maybe to give you a humid and careless kiss. The dogs can raise your state of mind when you are sad and to console yourself when you feel only. To have a dog is a great responsibility. ResponderEliminarI haven´t a pet, but if I had a pet the first five years of my life, was a dog called Yako was Westy race and was white. this dog had only one more year than me and protected me since my mother was pregnant because he lay beside her and when I was born Yako was always near the stroller and crib and just did with my brother. but when I was five years my uncle, husband of the older sister of my father died and my aunt felt very alone because my cousins were older, my cousin had his home and my other cousin almost wasn´t at home. Then my mother decided to leave to Yako few months but eventually it stayed in my aunt´s house until he died last year at eighteen because he was sick. this dog was very important for me so, when I see a picture of him I start to cry because it brings me good memories and lots of love. For this I don´t know if I want another pet because I happens really bad when he died and he only lived at home with me for five years, but maybe when I have my own house has a dog

Of course I would like to have a pet. And even more a pet like the one in the text I have just read. Since I was little child, I love reptiles. I always have asked my mother to buy me an iguana or some kind of reptile that I find very interesting, but so far I haven’t succed. When I'm in the beach on summer, I love going to find chameleons with my friends, we walk on the dunes and there are many, but it is a pity that it is forbidden to take them as pets. When we find one, we take it and observe how they change color when we put them on different surfaces. We like to see how they look with those eyes so round and curious. It is also fascinating to see how they eat. Sometimes, I when we are watching them in the dunes where there are many insects, we have seen how fast they pull the tongue and then roll it to enter the insect in the mouth. When I was little, one day I was in the countryside with my mother catching crickets and I saw a small snake eating a lizard bigger than her. Anyway, I've never had more than a fish, a turtle and a chicken. Those were my three pets and the truth is that they were not my favorite.
ResponderEliminarThe truth is that I'd like a pet, but not a pet such as in the text, I would like to have a puppy. I always am asking my mother to buy us a puppy, or when someone don’t want their dogs I ask her to let us addopt it. But my mother always says the same thing, she does not want more responsibilities. The problem is that my grandparents bought my mother a dog when she was little and she says that dogs in homes gives a lot of work and does not want to talk about it. When we were little, as my mother works at a research center where experimental animals are used, she always was bringing animals to home. Once she bring a rabbit to spend the weekend with us, it was very pretty, white with a black spot on the snout and paws and red eyes. Other days, she was bringing home small rats for us to play with them and we soaked the three brothers and the rats in the bathroom and spend all afternoon playing with them. This way my mother removed us the need of having pets, but I still insist on having a dog.
ResponderEliminarI have always got some pet in my home. Now my I have a litte dog who is called Albon and he is only one year old. The motive of his name is that he was presented by my best friend Nina and our nickname is "meatballs". Albon never wants to eat his feed because he prefer people food, but in my opinion it is unhealthy for dogs. He is small and white and I think that he is very intelligent because he can understand all that I say to him. But on the other hand, you have to compromtate to care him and to walk or go to run with him.

Currently I have a cat scratching at first everything, and ascended through the blinds, a disaster, but it's a quiet pet. I've also had a bitch, when I was little I bit all the furniture, I was tearing shoes and to pee and poop anywhere in the house where he pleased, threw food from his bowl did not drink water without throwing the whole pileup, another disaster, so eventually grew and were domesticated as usual, not to destroy us home. ResponderEliminarWhen I was a child I had an angora rabbit. It was a present for my 7th birthday. It was very fat white with black spots, it only used to eat, run and rest. However my first pet was a cat whose name was Julieta. It was taken from the street being a kitten and it lived with us for 18 years.
In addition another cat came to our life in my first communion it’s a Ragdoll cat, it’s an American breed with a lot of hair and a smart figure. It also has deep blue eyes.
After three years we decided to buy a dog for my brother’s first communion. In spite of the negative opinion of my father, my mother was completely determined to have a cocker spaniel dog. It’s cinnamon-coloured and very active. It loves my mother but all my family take care of it.
Last Christmas my mother gave to my father a parrot. We have had another parrot long time ago but it had a different breed. The parrot can talk since he was 5 months and now it can repeat every word we teach it.
This summer we came across with a very small cat that was almost died, and we decided to adopt it.
In a nutshell I would say that I can’t imagine my live without my pets, they make my life wonderful.
I like a lot of the animals in general, all less cats, I had a bad experience with this animal.

Also, I don’t have these animals alone to hunting, I like a lot of my dogs I have had dogs with me since I was a child.
When I had 5 or 6 years I had a dog, it´s name is Luna. It was a puppy and when I left the potitos ( I ate a lot of it ), Luna finished all of them.

ResponderEliminarThe most common pet at homes are dogs and that was the pet that I want, a German shepherd concretely. Dogs are beautifuls, dogs are nice and always make you happier; but dogs have to be looked after. That is the first reason that I have never had a dog or anything. My parents have never thought I would be mature enough to affront the cares a dog requires and that is the factor that have took me to other band, to the band of not want any pet.
I have realize a dog needs space and I do not see properly having it in a flat where it can run or moving relaxing. Moreover, if I would have a dog, the dog would be mine, and as mine it is, I would have to take it everyday, twice a day, to taking walks. To finish, the smell of them, I have become a little bit more scrupulous about the smell of dogs and the poo or pee at the flat!!

I love animals, and I have now 3 animals: A turtle and his name is Anonima a lop rabbit named Valentina is very nice and has fallen ears, it's beautiful. I don't have any mascot because when my sister and I have it request my parents always tell us the same thing, a dog is as a member of the family and must have conditions of life as any of us. We must take care of it and be aware of the. Furthermore we have to assume that you'll have problems since the mascot you can't take it you travel and have to have someone in charge of taking care of it or having to take it to the House of a family member or friend travelling and is giving them an obligation that is not theirs. Little by little we were realizing that a pet would be a problem, mostly because we like to travel and we would have to do something with the pet. There are other animals such as fish, turtles, hamsters..., but this kind of pet I never liked, so I never asked my parents.

ResponderEliminarThough I love animals, I have none, since my mother did not make it funny animals. Has always made me excited about having the typical, a dog or cat, even when she was little, she visited with my parents to Selvo Aventura, and there they put me a large python above, and instead I scare, loved, and since then it has always made me dream to have a snake or some kind of wild animal like a tiger or similar. Once my sister had silkworms but they didn’t stay a lot at home, when they grew up and start to be butterflies everybody at home decided to let them go.
