If you speak one language then you have a different way of analyzing and interpreting the world than the speaker of another language does. However, I think that it is very strange that one person can speak nine languages and can understand 12 more languages. With this data I think that the persons are born with a gift. Most people don’t have this gift, besides, most people cannot learn English easily.
These gifts are like to Mozart, Stephen Hawking or Albert Einstein. They were born special but I think that they in other things were bad. It is possible that Mozart was very bad with the Maths, it is possible that Stephen Hawking is very bad in languages and it is possible that Albert Einstein was very bad in arts.

I think that languages must be learning from we are children and it must be one of the priorities in the education at school. In Spain this hasn’t occurred for a long time because the main language for us was French and our mother tongue. Then, it has been changing little by little and now it is very common to learn English, German, or Chinese at school. Consequently, there are a lot of young people who travel around the world or have a gap year to learn another languages, and it does that we are more preparated now than then.
From my point of view, people who know different and even strange languages have more opportunities to get a job in any part of the world.
I find it amazing that a person can speak 9 languages like a native and also understand more. I would love to express myself in many languages and talk with people from all the countries where those languages are spoken. I am eternal learner language ( I speak three -Spanish , English and German spoken languages and two languages -Spanish signs and Americana- . I do not think my personality change when speaking or sign for each of them . I've been studying English since I was a little child and nowadays I am not able to speak two phrases together. Even more, I have been in England 3 times, and one of them living for a month with an English family with several children of my age and I was not able to understand them. And I have an inglish aun and two english cousins that do not speak spanish. The truth is that I think that language and musical hearing are closely related. For example, my sister and my brother have good musical ear and things in English sound for them, English is easy for them. They just know if something is wrong of not just for the way it sounds. However I have one ear opposite the other perhaps that is why I don’t know when something is good or bad. It's my mother who usually gives me English clases and she is surprised that I forget vocabulary, I pronounce very bad. Anyway, I think the English will always be a pending subject for me. I have to say that for me is difficult to learn and to speak as well as him all those languages. It’s true that for instance Portuguese Spanish or Catalan are very similar, I mean, if you learn Spanish is easier for you to learn Portuguese because they have many words that are similar. However I recognised that studying German and Hebrew is quite difficult, first of all because they have different grammar and different vocabulary and secondly because they have another root instead of the Latin one.

In my opinion, I'm not totally agree with the view of the author and his point of view about life. On the one hand, I think that meet and learn new languages opens many doors in your life allows you to be in contact with many people from all countries. I think that you need to have a great ability and a mind ready for that. Some people have a better aptitude and languages are easier for them. In the same way some people are better at maths. But in this case I also think that he is lucky because he has lived in an environment where the study of languages was promoted.
